Attrition numbers are higher then normal because we have a big pilot group. Average 80 people leaving a month. For a 4500 count pilot group is about what they forecasted when we had 1500 pilots. 20~% attrition . Thats the plan going forward. Training plans to go on indefinitely. You can’t stop like a smaller 600 count pilot group for a few months. Won’t work. And they know it.
Honestly the best thing that can happen in my opinion is that the TA next week is a flop. I’m looking forward to the straw that breaks the camels back.

Size is unrelated. We have a larger pilot group but also a larger training capacity than others. Bottom line is we are currently losing more than we are hiring.

March and April is the first time our pilot count has gone down ever, as I recall. The TA will be heavily weighted to the new hire and thanks to SAPA it will go through. I too am hoping it will be voted down but I've never seen this pilot group have the back bone to stand up for them selves. Right now the tide is swelling to consistent attrition and I'm sure management is concerned.

It took us 3 years and a loss of 20% of our pilot pool with IBT to get a good contract. It takes quite a lot to shake the bean counters into submission. I hope you're right but I'm guessing your shareholders will completely swap your executive team before any significant raises come through for the group that matters.

Seconded. My thoughts are similar; when an exec team has a vision and are compensated as much as they are, they are basically betting their jobs that they’re right. Hence no notable compromise on pay rates.
Rumor, there will be no significant changes until people stop showing for new hire class. Also said several hundred Aussies lined up in the pipeline, hard to believe but might have some validity.

We will never get any where close to Endeavor or Republic.
Because management would have to come up with the money, which they would hate to do because it shows the necessity of pilots. But mostly because it would signal they made a mistake in their judgement and that scares them more than anything.

I also think we're still bringing in a decent new hire size because of the new ATL base. The only other option for ATL is Endeavor and they've even stopped interviewing, much less having class dates 6+ months in advance.

I’m starting to think that we have a really safety issue on our hands with English being a second language and accents impeding communication with so many new hires.
I rarely have a guy in the left seat I can’t understand but on the radio I’ve noticed things are getting muddied.

They could have thousands, but it really doesn't matter. The visa and steps Aussies have to go through to get over here takes years. Even if they had some ready to come now, only a handful make it into each new hire class. There were 3 in my class - 1 washed out - and was then heading to PHX to try to get an interview at Mesaba before she had to leave the country.

Given that Australia has a population smaller than the State of Texas, 3 Aussies in a class from half way around the world sounds like a lot of pilots for a new hire class.
And, I am also pretty sure your washed out classmate got the job at Mesa.
