I'd say it would be better to give a more realistic view. Yes the most junior awarded CA was hired on 7/13, so 2 years and 10 months ago. But the next junior on the list was hired on 12/12 which would still be over 3 years. And the most senior FO to upgrade is 16 years.
If you want to take the absolute lowest number and make it the new standard, be my guest. But I would caution anyone to think that the new upgrade here is 2 years and 10 months. With about 500 FO's above the most jr CA, taking the very first upgrade class usually leads to a crash course in CS reserve abuse 101. ymmv

Not long. Upgrades classes get bigger in June.. ERJ classes doubble in size and RJ goes up also.. Plus the opening of DTW in July.. Still predict it being under 2 years by summer..

Considering there are only about 15 FOs between those 2 (gap in hiring), I don't know how else you'd paint the picture. There will always be guys who hold out for a certain base or ability to hold a line. When people ask about upgrade times, they are usually referring to the most junior captain award. In this case, that would be 2 years 10 months. Awards are not finished yet. Could go even more junior. The other side to the coin is that there were only about 150 pilots hired in all of 2013. I don't think the train is stopping anytime soon.
Amazing that the upgrade is below 3 years at the moment. Who cares if it's a CRJ, ERJ, or a clapped-out King Air A90 with the -6 engines? It's turbine PIC time.
Admittedly though, I will be one of those guys who holds out until I can upgrade in base. I'm not commuting to reserve again. Ever.

Is there a more accurate source than the seniority list on SWOL?
