Skywest CRJ class question...
Hey yall,
First off, long time reader but first time posting, so thanks for all the valuable insight that everyone has provided in helping me make big decisions as I'm hopefully moving up to a regional soon... but still i'm a newb so please go easy on me.
I had a quick question I wasn't able to find much info on.
Quick rundown:
Sending in my app soon and my goal is to eventually hold IAH in the CRJ. Does the seat lock apply to the CRJ series as a whole or specifically a 200/700/900 as well? Will i get trained in more than one or will I only fly one series (I noticed pay is different in some cases). Also, I've been trying to find more information about how to decide between each a/c with fleet size @ IAH, routes, number of flights, etc... as it seems that this could very much affect QOL and schedule when bidding.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Again, if this question needs to be clarified, is generally a dumb question, or if I missed the answer somewhere in the depths of the search function, feel free to let me know. Thanks in advance.

haha I was aware of that, what I should have asked was whether i'll be specifically put into one series, also will I get to choose which one, or will i just get trained in all of them and fly any of the 3 dependent on the company needs for any specific bidding period.

You will do IOE in the 200 OR 700/900 then OOE (Other Operating Experience) on the variant you didn't do IOE on. Then you're good to fly all 3 variants. The 700 lands very different from the 200. It's fun to go back and forth between the types. It keeps you on your game. IAH is a 700 only base. If for whatever reason you did IOE on the 200, and didn't get OOE done on the 700 for months, but got awarded IAH as a domicile your first 700 trip would be with an LCA to get your OOE done.

Keep in mind that -900 flying is rare in many bases. Aside from OOE and a few reserve trips I haven't touched a 900 my entire time here. Most of my flying is on the -700.
The -200 is a dog on a hot day or fully loaded, the climate control system is a joke, and it doesn't have FADEC. The -700 is a much stronger performer with improved systems including FADEC, and the -900 is a stretched 700 with a forward lav, and a second FMS CDU if you're lucky.
But they're all CRJs. They may land differently and perform differently, but the experience is basically the same across all 3 variants.
(Edit: just checked PBS and they put a DL -900 trip out of SFO on my schedule. Since when are we doing DL trips out of SFO?)

Ya you'll get all 3 series. IAH only has 700 and some 900.
Personally, I sucked so they kept me on the 200
