Clarification that it is not signed yet, but that is probably a technicality. I'm just surprised it was announced now instead of over Thanksgiving like last time they tried to slip this line holder reserve through.
How about we put off all thie "negotiating" until after our pay package is "negotiated". Or reserve proffering is done. Or until we can see if we will ever be staffed properly. I'm sure this will be put out to pilot vote since it will have such an impact on our lives.

We have a lot more capital to get what we want, but we don't have leadership that will look management in the eye and say no.
One step forward, two steps back.

I may not know much, but I do know the EFB has a lot more potential for our benefit than most know. SkyWest doesn't have the option to NOT get the EFB. jeppeson has informed the company will not be provided jeppeson service due to the size of the manuals, as told to me from one of the guys that put together the airside program.

What sort of things are there to negotiate in an "EFB policy"? Or am I missing something?

Have you seen your EFB MOU yet? There's a provision in Express Jet's MOU that makes you responsible for the Microsoft Surface once you leave the company. You go to gazelle.com, figure out the value, and that's what you owe the company (if before 2 years).

Of course I've read it. I'm asking to get clarification on what they mean by EFB policy. Besides, you are leaving important details out on your explanation of the MOU.

I don't see how it has much potential for benefit. It's one more thing I have to carry around, keep track of, and keep charged. I'd rather keep airside (I know that's not going to be practical, but point being I don't want the thing, so why should I even have to "negotiate" for it?)
I don't even think it has potential for benefit to us as a negotiating point...it's a tool, soon to be indispensable, so if needed the company can just buy and issue them, they don't even need to ask us.
But it has significant potential for downside. This idea that you "own" it and have to re-imburse the company if you leave is crap. Much, much worse IMO is the language in the MOU which would enable wireless auto-notification of line pilots for reflow/junior-man...essentially everybody would be on reserve. There's some language about compensation for the latter, but it would need to be VERY airtight. And all the weasel-lawyer wording about "to the extent practical", "the company shall make every effort" needs to come out or it's pointless.
If the company wants reflow how about we trade it for something we actually want/need...not an EFB that the company needs anyway and is going to try to turn a profit on by "selling" it to pilots who leave.
