Default Merger

Regardless of all the nay sayers about TSA not getting E175's.

We were supposed to have MRJ's online around the same time these 175's would be delivered to TSH (and whichever airline TSH decided to assign them to, the MRJ's going to TSA was built into TSA's contract)

Currently, compass has the 175 certificate, and TSA has old airplanes that are rapidly becoming unpopular and will inevitably age out.

At the same time, everyone is having staffing issues and there has been an ongoing trend of unifying seniority lists across multiple certificates.

TSA and Compass are both ALPA carriers under the same holdings company which is privately held. Uncle H can do whatever the **** he pleases with either airline.

Compass can't handle doubling its fleet, TSA can't handle doubling its fleet, but Merge the two or simple bridge the seniority lists and now you are not doubling the size of the airline, nor hiring off the street for two companies. We have not been having staffing issues and we are running two initial classes a month continuously while not currently having any need of more pilots at all. We have not yet really started to experience flood gate level attrition either. TSA used to be a terrible airline, but we have nearly completely changed out all our management except at the Holdings and Executive level and we have a contract that is better than MESA, Republic, PSA, Commutair, and Piedmont (those are the only contracts i'm familiar with) we are not bottom pay, we are middle of the road pay, and we have an established 70-90 seat turbojet payscale in our contract despite not having the planes. Also compass is a fantastic airline. Easily the best operator of E170's.

A merger would solve the cost issue of bringing a new type online with TSA and the issue of staffing with Compass. We would have no issues staffing or recruiting with a fleet of shiny new airplanes on the way. I have no doubt if TSH gets this bid, a TSA/Compass merger isn't far behind. The writing is on the wall.

I've been saying this for almost a year now, when they started relocating Compass people to TSH. Also, I believe the lease is up on Compass' HDQ in MSP in 2015.

I doubt it. I'm not saying something isn't coming down the pipe for TSA - exactly the opposite. The training department is now bigger than it was when we had 50 planes. We now have 3 classes of pilots in training this month. But the more simple explanation is that we're getting 5-15 145's as a result of republic dropping them (probably a short term 2-3 year contract until the MRJ's come online).

Thats very likely, and may have been something that was decided upon before all this 175 crap even started. Eagle hadn't shot its contract down when we announced our ORD base.

It'll be nice too, more lines, more upgrades, more movement.

Also, i'd rather fly the MRJ than the E175 as its an even shinier and newer airplane. But, i hope i'm not still around when the MRJ's finally deliver.

Good luck to TSA! I have 4 days left! Moving on to greener pastures! Walking away from a potential upgrade! Back to the no commuting life! Not worth it anymore! 7 years at 2 different regionals has broken me! Done!

Any idea how much attrition there is on the CA side?

Rumors abound that the MRJ is way short on performance predictions. I would not expect to see those at any airline for a very, very long time.

How do you get "less than expected performance" on an airplane that literally doesn't exist yet?

BWAHAHAH!!! Thanks for the laugh. We can't even get EFBs figured out at ExpressJet, let alone new flying.

By the way, good luck to Trans States... I do hope you guys get these birds.

Attrition on the CA side is very very low. Maybe 1-2 a month. Sometimes none. Attrition is higher on the FO side.
