What's your point? I was pointing out that Republic did not bid on the flying.

The advantage Skywest has in terms of staffing is that they currently have 3300 pilots, so adding 30 E175s would be significant but not outrageous. For companies like Compass, TSA, PSA and Mesa it would cause them to nearly double the size of their companies which is probably not possible for them to staff.

Skywest also has the advantage of being able to park Brasilias or CRJ 200s in order to staff E175 orders which management has said they're prepared to do. Compass can't park E175s to staff more E175s and Mesa also only flies large RJs.

No one said that the 'great Skywest' isn't having staffing problems. I think the person above was just pointing out that Skywest is big enough to have some backup plans in order to be able to staff a new contract where other companies cannot.

And you're also assuming that on Jan 1st, 30 E-175s will instantly be dropped into SkyWest's lap. There would be plenty of time to plan for the execution, and the aircraft would go online slowly over a set period of time.

I'm sure RAH said the same thing and look how well that turned out

I think te advantage Compass has over everyone else is the quick movement we are currently seeing, that alone will allow us to keep our pool of applicants high. People will hear about it and leave their regional for a change at that elusive upgrade. Not saying it's the right thing to do, but people will do it. My class had a Skywest guy and ExpressJet guy both looking for faster advancement. Upgrades are at 2.5yrs and dropping.

If the AA flying came along pretty much every person on the list now will be a Captain by the time they're all delivered. O ya and then the flow will happen again. People will apply for that type of movement, and a better contract that most these days.

How long had the Skywest and XJT guys been at those two companies. I can see a less than 1 year FO jumping over. Once you start building seniority I feel like there's little point in going back down to the bottom of another regional list to chase upgrades though. I haven't heard of any 4+ year FOs leaving for Compass and Mesa. It's not like Majors are calling every captain out there, or even only calling captains.
