Yeah, I think they will start letting people bypass Bro classes now to wait for the jet. I don't think they used to like to do that but a 2 year commute minimum doesn't seem worth it.

Most hiring will be for the jet for awhile probably anyway. I think the new pay proposal will slow attrition from the bro.

Are the current Bro pilots grandfathered in or is the new seat lock applying to them as well.

Maybe we'll have have leverage when the pilot shortage hits them in the shorts. Or maybe not, they can only pay us so much when we're already paid well above the bottom feeders we're competing with for flying.

I don't even think it comes down to leverage, it will come down to their need to incentive people to come work here and to stay working here.

I could be wrong but that's how I see it now. I've said before that I'm not impressed with this package. Basically I felt bad for Bro FO's. Give 'em some beer money and try again in a year when (maybe) conditions are more favorable.
We are paid more because we make all the cash that keeps paying for Skywest Inc.s blunders, we are effective, productive like no other Regional pilot group and Skywest Airlines makes the best profits in the Regional industry every quarter. That is the only reason why we are paid among the highest. We should be the highest paid pilot group at the regional level.

Concessions? yes we took them....that is a fact

We use to have an agreement that ended 2013 that was 1% increase every year for inflation. That was to be renegotiated and extended. It was not, so we gave up 1% increase for every year going forward and the bs that we got instead does not get even close to what 1% is for the pilot group. The increase for the Bro FOs is covered by the seat lock and lower training cost. The company is saving tons of money by not extending the 1% cola and if we cost them less while they are making more while our pay value is less due to inflation every year then I would say that that is clearly concessions.

The guys who say the seat locks were our leverage crack me up. If you want some leverage then vote in a union. If you want REAL leverage then go work for a unionized legacy/major!

I for one do not believe the seat locks gave us any leverage at all but it is a fact that it will pay for the pay increase in second year pay for Bro FOs by lowering training cost so I do not see that like something the company is "giving" to the pilot group. They are doing it because they need to attract people and paying for it by keeping them in their seat longer and it should have been kept outside of the package negotiations altogether but was used as a tool from the company via SAPA to make the pilots believe the company was giving them something when in fact it was not costing the company anything

We need to unionize. Our Association is self admittedly out gunned. The Association leadership is using the same theoretical ideals that previous SAPA Executives used.....namely, if we take care of the company, the company will take care of us. Kind of the "deal us an ace" idea. Until this group organizes a RLA union, we get what we pay for.

All of you who say this is only a year long, must not have been around years ago when skywest got you to take the 50 and 70 for the same rate for only a few years. Then never changed the rate back when they said they were going to.

I've worked for two union carriers in my career so far trust me they're doing just as much here as they were there. At least here I don't have to kick back 2% to hear the same stories.

Working at previous union carriers that were failing is no comparison to working at an independent, financially stable carrier. In addition, the regional model is not the same as it was even 5 years ago. The tools afforded, and the independence alone are worth the 2%. Not to mention whatever the winds of change have in store for the regionals.
