According to our March schedules, the most junior line holders are: LGA - #584, PHL - 647, RDU - 658, DCA - 655, ORF - 709. We currently have 711 pilots on the seniority list. The only reason number 709 got a line was because 5 people ahead of him forgot to bid a line or just forgot to bid all together.
DMB, our contract negotiations are going slowly as expected. They have reached a TA on a few of the sections but still have the more difficult ones left. Don't expect a new contract within the next 3 years.
If you commute this company is going to make you miserable, unless you don't enjoy a social life or being at home. You will not fly West of Kansas City and a decent storm will shut down every domicile in the system. Every time you fly into PHL you will swap aircraft, if you don't mark it on your calendar. At least 5 out of the 7 days a week our company rockstar twitter feed says "operation is struggling" or "today is going to be a struggle".
We do have decent pay for a regional and great medical benefits. You will have job security for the next 3 years at least. If this appeals to you, welcome and enjoy.

The commute and QOL is purely seniority based at most airlines especially at AWAC. But it is how you perceive it. If you are junior you may only get half the weekends off each month if any and commutable is defined by you and where you live. Reserve is like most anywhere else but AWAC has been hiring like a mofo in the last few months so there are finally plenty of FOs so they really aren't flying that much. I ran into a junior FO hired in June of 2011 who told me that he had to get an extension on his 100 hrs in 120 days.

Yeah I'm fairly new at Expressjet (ERJ side obviously). My only real fear at this point is that ASA loses some more flying and a few hundred of their guys opt to come over to this side. Don't get me wrong I wish only the best for our brothers but the idea of having a ton of guys start underneath me who will all the sudden jump me in seniority a year or two down the road is unappealing to say the least. I'm not saying its unfair - we are one company and they were here first. But, I'm poised to move up rapidly in seniority this year with our hiring spurt and from a self-interest perspective it would suck to know that some huge chunk of them will jump ahead of me one day. In fact, part of the reason i dropped a higher paying gig and took on a commute was because I it looked like things were moving fast here. Anyway, can't worry about it now, and frankly I think if ASA was going to furlough they would have done it already with flying likely to pick up in the spring and summer. But... Who knows?
Anyway I really hope for everyone's good that the CRJ side can find a way to expand with a decent contract from someone in the near future and everyone will be happy

.I can understand how having people below you go ahead of you after an integration may be unsavery. However, the truth is that we took the seniority snapshot when the merger was announced... In fact if you were just picked up in the last year, every ASA pilot will go above you anyways (because they were all hired before you)... It may not seem fair to you but most likely every ASA fo will upgrade ahead of you once the SLI is completed. In fact many new junior captains will have senior ASA Fo's with a higher number then them. The snapshot will dictate the integration and not the current seniority. There is no use in stressing over it. Hopefully the jnc will get a fair contract and we can merge the groups asap.
I will say this though, by the time we merge the groups it's likely that so many people will be leaving each month (due to major pilot attrition) that you will never even notice the numbers. If the combined company doesn't continue to shrink, I'm guessing that the combined upgrade will go to about 2-3 years sometime around 2014..... But who the hell knows
