Instead of pointing out who's losing money, I think the better thing to do would be to ask who actually is making money right now?

Going back to the topic, how can maintenance, crew costs and training be unexpected? What's the real story of these "unexpected costs"?

Airways flying at a loss but not a loss because it's less then the loss would be on planes not flying will continue losses for skywest....

Sounds a bit like what is being said a Pinnacle. Maybe it's a trend: management doesn't "expect" to pay anyone.

My understanding was startup costs for US and a big spike in training costs due to bro FO's coming off lock.

The Mx was not unexpected....those requirements are obviously predictable in advance. But there was a spike, some of which was coincidental with a lot of planes needing heavy checks or new engines. As the RJ ages we probably see more of that.

There was probably some winter Wx IROPs in there too.
