Pay for short term parking? Heck no..
That would add insult to injury.

I just jump on the shuttle bus a couple minutes before the end of purgatory...

And speaking about parking, does SKW pay for it or reimburses part of it?

Parking only covered in your base.

If anyone is in SFO's Terminal 2 on a given weekend around 3:00, stop by the Starbucks next to the Virgin ticket counter and say hi. I'll be the guy trying to pretend my phone doesn't exist
I've spent more hours sitting ready there and in the employee cafeteria than I care to admit. I've actually had a cop stop me and check my credentials because he saw me in two terminals hanging out. While in uniform on RDY, I had a person approach me and ask for spare change.

Kind of unavoidable when it's 4 hrs prior to starting a 4 leg day. For the 2 hrs RDY nads kick after a 5 leg day, ...I know not of what you speak.

Hah...the best part is that in the SFO crew lounge (as with most SKW crew lounges I've seen) is how they have a big notice next to the quiet room saying that cellphones don't get coverage so CS can't contact you. Yet we are supposed to have 'suitable lounge facilities' available. Hmmm....

At Mesa reservists can go back on regular reserve after a trip if they have the FDP available, but I haven't heard of anyone getting assigned ready reserve after a trip. only getting assigned another trip or going back on regular 1.5 hour callout.

What I'm saying, is that RDY requires you to get back within :20. The odds of that call happening are very low. When I was on reserve and had to do airport jail time, I left but made sure I could return within :20. Paying to park is merely a backup option to ensure that I wouldn't be late should the uber-short phone call come, but I never had to do it. Its an investment in sanity to be able to hang out elsewhere. There are several pleasant downtown areas and parks nearby to enjoy, maybe run an errand or two, and then be on your way close to the end of the RDY 'shift'.

Some Mesa guys I've spoken to say that airport reserve is sometimes assigned in up to 8hr shifts. That's a long time to be sitting at the airport.
As far as SkyWest, I've never been called while on RDY. Not saying it can't happen, but it's unlikely.

So if you would be kind enough to help a newbie......what all kinds of reserve are there? Long call, short call, rdy? I'm about 1:30 from COS which I understand is a MX base. Would reserve there be different than other domociles?
