Just be VERY careful about logging PIC, even if you have an ATP-ME with a PIC type in the RJ and you're "sole manipulator." You can argue it's legalities but you're not PIC, you are designate SIC by SkyWest and when things go wrong you’re not the final decision maker. If and when you get an interview with mainline and you have PIC time in the RJ but have never been a Captain they will send you packing. HR may not care but the pilots interviewing you will, you can guarantee it.

Don't be that guy that tries to claim PIC time as an FO in the right seat. You are NOT "in command" of the aircraft, and that's what every airline in the world means when they look for turbine PIC time.

For a Part 121 operation unless you sign your name on the release where you're listed as PIC, don't log it as PIC. I can't imagine most people doing this but I'm sure there are some out there who would.

There are pilots who, because the regs say you can, will log PIC time when they are "sole manipulator."

Now that’s funny, talking to a Compass FO was the first place I encountered this issue. He has never been a Captain but logs PIC on the legs he fly’s. This individual also felt that Delta prefers pilots with "slat and engine under wing time." What a fool!

This individual also believed that Delta strongly prefers pilots with "slat and engine under wing time" and asked me if I planned to leave my Captain seat on the RJ at SkyWest for Compass so I could build that necessary time. What a fool and I told him that to his face!

I think common sense dictates that you will be very stupid to log PIC considering someone else is signing the flight log......
