This back and forth about this or that date for ERJ classes is useless.... Nobody can really say with any authority who's going where on what date, so take the advice of most on here and just take the CRJ. There is always a chance it could take 3-6 months before they even call you for an ERJ class so get the seniority now and bid for it later if you really want the plane. Seniority is everything and the CRJ is just fine for building it in. On the other hand if you really can't fly anything but the ERJ try one of the other carriers that has them.

Yup, agreed. The ERJ is surely a nice-looking bird, but my God, the CRJ-900 is virtually identical, numbers-wise, to the ERJ-175 and the CRJ-700 isn't far off. Plus, from the front cockpit you can't tell the difference (unless you're trying to climb above FL300 in a loaded 200.)

If I were in a 'pool' now, I would just call and ask for whatever class date they have on any airframe.

For a new hire, what are the chances you get to fly more than the guarantee and is that paid as just straight time or do you make extra for flying over? Just trying to figure out how much you could really make your 1st year with Skywest. Trying to make the jump but pay is making it really hard.

In 9 months I blocked 650 hours and credited 900. RSV over guarantee will pay more more but line holder breaking guarantee is straight pay. A good safe average as to how much you'll make a year is multiply your hourly rate by a 1000.

No, but what's happening on the ERJ is that a lot of the Brasilia pilots are bidding over to it. The Bro goes away in May, so I suspect that new-hires wanting the ERJ may be waiting a long, long time (possibly 3--6 months or more) before SKW starts putting a lot of new hires in the ERJ. Sure, there are a few guys/gals who get put into the ERJ straight away, but looking at the bid list for the ERJ I am seeing a huge amount of Bro pilots bidding for it.

If I were you I'd go for the CRJ.
Thanks for the info! I really don't care about the aircraft, I will jump on the first class they offer me, if they offer

Does anyone have any strong opinions on or insights into the best and worst trips/overnights on the CRJ2 out of ORD? Are there certain parings that tend to be more favorable for someone that lives in base in Chicago? Do locals and standups go relatively junior there? Also, how long might a lineholder have to expect to wait before picking up 700 and 900 trips? Just trying to get a flavor for what life is going to be like soon. Thanks!

Wonder why sapa is putting this on the front pages of the forums?

"1/17/2015 Should you answers the phone if the FAA calls?
What To Do When The FAA Calls Regarding an LOI
Imagine you get a phone call. You don't recognize the number, but it's clearly a SLC based number, so you answer it. It turns out it's from an inspector from the FAA. He's calling to get some information regarding a possible violation. You're completely caught off guard, but you don’t want to appear uncooperative. What do you do? There are a few things you need to consider in order to respond appropriately."

The most senior trips at ORD are the long 700 locals. NAS, SLC, MTY, BZN, FCA, YYC turns. I can't even touch those at 45%. Good standups also go pretty senior. Six leg locals, min credit locals and bad standups go extremely junior. The majority of the trips in ORD are 4 days so how senior a 4 day goes just depends on how good it is. High credit 700/900 4 days are going to go a lot more senior than low credit 200 4 days, etc.

My personal favorite overnights out of ORD: TVC, PHX, SBA, MEM, AUS, SAT, YHZ, MSP, STC. CMX is nice in the summer but unfortunately I usually end up there in the winter.

I bid about 45% and I can only hold 700 and 900 trips if I want to fly on weekends. I can't hold 700 locals at all and I can't hold 700/900 4 days with weekends off. If I want weekends off I have to bid the 200. If I don't mind working weekends I can hold all 700/900. It will probably take you until under 60% before you're able to hold 700/900 trips on weekends, and it will take you until under 40% to hold all 700 and 900 on week days. If you're trying to bid locals you'll be under 30% before you can touch 700 locals.

A lot of 700 flying went away with the 175. I'm in the upper 1/3 and can't hold 700 2days/3 days/locals, only 4days during the week. Disclaimer, i bid for high paying days so I don't mind flying the 200 as long as it pays well
