Heard that some recent classes had a few that struggled, but all are out on IOE or the line now. Supposedly new-hires get a bank of sim time and three strikes before getting the pink slip.
Rumor has it that the test to NOT fail is the initial limitations/memory quiz, although there might be a few exceptions for those that didn't get the study guide until immediately before the class.

When I went through last year, the limitations test (for the EMB) was most definitely NOT a one strike and you're out deal. It wasn't even a PRIA reportable event. A couple of guys in my class failed it a couple of times, and basically had to re-test on it until they got it right. But the EMB has about 2x more stuff to memorize than the CRJ, so maybe they were more lenient with us.
The systems test was a different story... Fail it once and it's a PRIA event. They give you one more chance to pass, but fail again and you're out.

Thanks for all the responses.
A little tongue in cheek but reminds me of an instructor who said, "You'll do fine as long as don't mess up." There's a lot to be said for a pilot who makes reasonable progress and pushes hard to make the grade.

Since you just went through it, is it a rumor or not?

It's hard to say if the training department is better than most because I can only speak to my own experiences, but I came from another 121 airline and the training department at SkyWest was leaps and bounds better than my last company. No question, hands down, much, much better. There are a lot of very smart and capable people teaching the material, they provide a million resources, and they give you so much sim time it's almost too much. I had a great experience during training, though what other people have said about attitude is absolutely correct. Show up willing to work and ready to learn, try your best at all times and you'll be just fine.

jheath speaks the truth. I was in his class with him. I dont have any 121 experience to compare it to as I was a CFI before but I found the training excellent. The limitations test they want you to know 100%. It might not be a fail one and done or even a PRIA test but to not know the material when you get to class is just dumb. It is all need to know stuff. The systems final is a fail out type of test but you get more than once to take it. The whole 3 strikes I believe. But no one in our class needed more than once to take it. Very good review in ground school the day before. Just take the time to study. Show up willing to learn and everyone will do fine.

You only get to take the final exam twice, if you cannot pass the second time then dismissal of employment. So i would make every effort to pass the first time. Not only in order to move on in the training program, but failing the exam the first time goes in your "PRIA" record, which you will have to explain to the Legacy Carriers (failed training event) if that`s your goal.

Update...
Junior guy in the most recent EMB upgrade class has been here a few weeks shy of five years.
And just to throw a grenade out there, SkyWest may be operating some really long RJs with XJ on the tail in the not-too-distant future.
