Thanks
I'm ready to start my 121 career and I live in the SoCal area. Just trying to figure out the best airline to limit my commute. For me I'd rather be resurve LAX than to commute to a line hours away. I have another source of income in my local area and I'm try to have some QOL, but I might be crazy.

How long before one could reasonably be based in Denver or Colorado Springs?

I also have a kickass schedule next month, and have both Thanksgiving and Christmas off. There's no question some of the senior people don't know how to bid... "But I bid Christmas off in every layer, and got a crap schedule!". How much you want to bet this was uttered by many that have been here for 5+ years?
One new wrinkle is in the really understaffed bases, some pilots are getting upwards of fifteen coverage dates that just totally wreck any bidding preferences.
Bottom line our PBS combined with our lean staffing model is a broken system that's going to come to a head.

from the endeavor thread
Although this agreement is still being finalized, the target is for Air Wisconsin will begin flying their first five Delta Connection aircraft in January, with an additional 2-3 aircraft added per month, through October 2015, with a goal of operating 26 aircraft. Additionally, SkyWest has received two former Endeavor CRJ-200 aircraft and will receive 12 total planes.

Yes, a lot of people who ***** don't know how best to bid, but... coverage dates can be the ruin of even the most strategically placed bid. They run unfairly from senior to junior, and really seem to hammer between 50 and 75% seniority bidders. I've had better luck bidding holidays off at 75 % than at fifty, just sometimes it would come as a composite line. No problem, sweet talk whoever does transition and you're good to go.

That has nothing to do with who understands PBS though. I think it's universally misunderstood across all years of longevity. I believe I understand it better than most due to a prior technical background combined with calling the PBS helpline fairly often when I was new. But there are still some awards that leave me scratching my head from time to time, I have to admit.

I was lucky this month but knowing the ins and outs of pbs doesn't matter much anymore. My base ORD is short staffed and pairings took a huge dive what's worse is when guys bark up against the 1000 limit in year it'll get real interesting.

Right now we are short pilots in ORD on the ERJ. It would not take long to be off of reserve as a newhire. Add to that, once they open DEN as an ERJ base ORD will again be short.
