HAHA!! The thought of that just made me spit my G and T out! CCB is such a straight shooter and blunt. I could just see him telling Clarence how bitter he's going to get. "ya, well, I don't care who you are or what you say I can get any major airline job I want with my dads cessna experience in my pocket!"
CCB, if you read this, and I presume you will, I mean no disrespect Cheers brother!

Sorry guys,
I am not a bitter person by nature, but I do have the luxury of having been around awhile, and by nature am observant. If my diatribes cause one pilot to rethink their kool-aid drinking brain numbness it was worth it. Unlike most on these and other forums, I have not always wanted to be a pilot, it was by circumstance that when I started, a widebody Captain could make major bank. I thought I would roll the dice and see if I could make the point. Well the rolling continues and as I save almost 50% of my pay, the pain of F/Odom recedes into the past and becomes just an unpleasant past. This job isn't for everyone, and if my blunt observations save on pilot just one day in their life, it is worth it. The problems at SKYW are no different than anywhere else, and in fact they might be a little worse, since they are not on the financial brink. While WRX crows about his job, I have seen first hand what a junior engineer does on a daily basis, and I can see why he is glad for his choices. I have no dog in this hunt, I got my upgrade almost a decade ago, so SKYW shrinking or not will not affect me either way, OTH WRX and his ilk need new meat coming in behind him for his upgrade to materialize. I am sure that the regionals of tomorrow will be materially different than those around today. If nothing else, its gonna be a wild ride....good or bad.....

CCB, I think you bring a balance to, as you correctly point out, the "kool aid drinking" yuppy side of things. While you have a certain flavor to your views that I don't personally connect with, the balance is important.
Cheers

The guys doing the interview are line pilots, they have a vested interest in keeping the "less than desirable" candidates from progressing through the process, it only takes a few 13 hr days sitting next to a "less than desirable" to make the job less palatable. As a side note while relatively rare, SKYW has let some "less than desirable" personality candidates go home, unemployed.

Give enough time, you might even see some of those things I pointed out. Lesson 101, Skrew Skeduling isn't your friend, they have one job, staffing trips, so while you think you are a unique, delicate, snowflake, in the eyes of SS, you are an employee number, a warm body filling a slot, and their obligation to you ends when you agree to whatever corncob they are trying to jam in your tater. They rely on newhires not understanding the rulebook, read it, know it, live it.

You "misunderestimate" me.
But anyway, you guys know that it's pilot unions you ride coat tails on when you use ASAP, kcm, cass, FFDO, and yes, even the TCAS that they pushed through as a mandate for the airlines to pay the cost of installing them.
Your welcome.

The truth is, Crew Sched DOES have one job. Staffing trips. If I was in CS that is what I would be doing too so I cannot hold it against them.
If you set the bar low, you can only do better!

CCB, you do make a lot of good points and I fear that too many guys don't crunch the numbers to see just how bad the pay is (at least for quite some time). While I haven't had the pleasure of receiving a 1st year FO paycheck yet, I've crunched the numbers. I'm lucky in the fact that I have a guard job to help me pay the bills. I know a lot of you guys probably hate guys like me for that...sorry. I've also spent enough time on the road to know that it truly does suck sometimes. However, I always tend to look at the bright side. I consider some of the flying I've done to be REAL flying, but I seldom make it through a Cuban 8 without spilling my coffee and tracer rounds can be quite irritating. I know the airlines have a whole new ball of suck that I haven't experienced yet and I appreciate CCB shedding light on these areas.

I disagree...in my class there were a couple guys who had issues in the sim, got the TBNT, reapplied six months later, did better on the sim, and were hired. Of course, that's a datapoint of two, so take that for what it's worth...
