There are three things you get when you retire:

1. The big picture.

2. How much money you would have made if you had held out another 3 months.

and

3. The names of all the FA's who would have banged you.

"I just wonder what they're planning on..."- wrxpilot

When I interviewed last spring I asked the capt. hosting the HR. portion if they would ever consider lowering either the 100 hr. multi requirement or 1000 total time for an exceptional applicant with an internal recommendation. He was certain they never would barring an agreement with a 141 school with a special program taylored for SKW.
So... me thinks that they are simply getting while the getting is good. At some point it is gonna be impossible to get pilots with those hours. Maybe we're fat right now but if that's the choice between being desperate in 1.5 years so be it. I'll reinforce this theory with the slow upgrades, they're simply stock piling pilots.
...And they certainly have high hopes for the US Airways flying in the future.

But have they ever lowered their public minimums? Sooner or later everyone is likely going to have their hand forced too. I'm not talking about somebody's kid sneeking through, but rather the greater trend.

Doubt it.... With 1500hr rule around the corner it'll be extremely difficult for someone hired with say 500hrs and start indoc in May to have 1500tt by the time it goes into effect. IOE is only around 30hrs, then it's off to reserve city.

Starting in April, recurrent and initial checkrides for FOs will be an ATP event. They need all FOs to have an ATP by 8/2013, so I REALLY doubt they'll be hiring below 1000 hours. If anything, they're going to be bumping those mins up.

00 Rumor check: 1. Any growth in the Alaska Air flying?
2. Block hours this summer compared to last summer. More or less?
3. Will Chick-Fil-A open a slop trough at PDX?
