I did the ILS 06 KTTN. My clearance was cleared direct Yardley VOR, cleared ILS 06. I hit the VOR and turned outbound on the feeder radial. By the time I got established on that radial I was about 2 miles past ZUBAX where I was supposed to start the hold. What saved me is that the 222 radial from Yardley is pretty close to the right heading for a teardrop entry. Once I realized I was already 2 miles past the fix I just started my inbound turn on the teardrop and managed to get myself on course and shoot the approach. I was sweating a bit though.

I also go about 300 ft off altitude at one point when I was looking down at my chart. If they let you see the approach before hand try your best to memorize everything you can about it so you don't have to look down. The sim is really touchy.

The guy interviewing me didn't say anything about my approach or getting off altitude. I think everyone messes something up in the sim. They're testing to make sure you recover from your mistakes and keep your cool.

Yeah, I'd love to see someone fly that thing +- 100 on altitude. I'm sure some guys can with enough time but not me!

I don't think they have a PTS style standard on how well you have to in order to "pass", they are looking for basic IFR skills, and will give you the benefit of the doubt if they deem necessary.

Basic instrument skills are the foundation of airline flying, if you struggle on an interview, flying with me will be like sticking your head into a fan, it's noisy and scary and will mess you hair shellac up, so have your wife yelll "what the F-are you doing now" repeatedly like when you are in the shower or taking a dump, to prepare you.

PRIA requests are hitting the fan, corporate panic is occurring behind closed doors. They will do the obvious corporate response, using their own "special" logic. Scream paycuts and threaten furlough, these guys have had legions of pilots begging at their doorstep for years, and have truly forgotten how to create a reasonable workplace.
Remember there are 2 Skywests, the line and reserve, the line is ok as long as you don't have to deal with SGU, reserve will have you regretting not hanging yourself at birth with your own umbilical cord. The stupidity and general lack of caring that come out of SS is staggering, it had me, a 10+ year Capt, ready to quit after a couple of years on reserve in a reserve only base. Many days driving to the airport to sit 6 hours of ready reserve, and do nothing had me itching to turn my ID in. To all you future reserves, spend as much time with your family as you can before, because you won't see them much after starting.

Never instructed, I will discuss technique, if I have to the descent planning for you or teach basic instrument flying, you won't like flying with me.

Just made my quarterly visit to the SAPA forums, specifically the Negotiating Update thread, breathtaking, absolutely stupendous in its staggering stupidity. Hard to believe some of the posters posses a drivers license, much less a pilots certificate. The junior guys have dispensed with the "get out of my seat, old man" cry and have distilled it down to "let's take it from the top seniority captains and give it to the new hires"
Ebola is knocking on the door, and the airline industry is tanking, ISIL is looking to immigrate to the USA, all they need is to do is get some virgin seekers infected, ship them to Paris and every other major airport, wait fo symptoms, then cough, sneezing and touching everything in the non secure areas, or get some jobs in the restaurants and infect legions of travelers to the U.S. The EMB120 is going away as well, I think I will call Shane L. and let him know I wont make a peep if he wants to furlough, heck maybe I wlould even take a right seat qual to help out if he furloughs too many, might need to buy another boat or get the wife some new bolt ons....two way street butwipes. I no longer "need this job" heck, maybe age 67 might even get me a new vacation house with a Turbo Carrera in the heated garage......

Ahh... More wise words from the alcoholic lifer, unable to move one. Pathetic and sad.

I've flown with a couple loud mouths like this, it's always interesting. At some point they will do something really stupid, and I just shake my head as I either fix their mistake or watch them make up stupid excuses.

Fortunately jackasses like our resident drunken ranter are very rare. Most folks here are good guys/ladies, and are fun to fly with and even hang out with outside of work. I do feel sorry for him, it's rather sad to witness quite honestly.
