Thanks guys, much appreciated.
On a separate topic, whoever wrote FAR 117 needs to have their racket restrung, as it were.
That, and the takeoff minimum RVR table. Makes me want to stab myself with a rusty spork. Exemption 3585 is a piece of cake compared to that table...!

If they're still teaching the Becoming portion of 3585 disregard it becoming is no longer used in TAF reporting.

I believe you can find it in the Aviation Weather Services book otherwise google should show it. Becoming is used in Canada and Military Airfields but 3585 can't be used to Canada nor do we get weather from the military.

It's a joint airport so we use the civ weather iirc also how often does Yuma need a 3585 exemption lol.

Just looked it up Yuma military provides all service for the civ side but if the question ever arose I don't think Yuma has ever had the need to be dispatched via 3585.

Indeed
The 'BECMG' came up today...I'd forgotten that you can't use 3585 to ameliorate the effects of a BECMG. So yeah, they are still teachin' it.
There was also a hypothetical question of "what if you're going into CEC and it's below mins, so you divert to RDD but it's also below mins." Hell would also have to freeze over for both of those to happen simultaneously, I'd say...

I tried explaining it to the instructor but I guess some thing's just never end... Anyways in 3 years of flying 121 I've used 3585 once and we pulled out the books when it happened to CYA.

By the way, is there an Android or iPhone app that just tracks all your duty time limitations and what-not? Seems like that would be a lot easier than actually having to remember this stuff...
