Refusing new flying in order to 'do what's right' just means someone else is going to take it while our upgrade time increases. It's a noble thought but no one is going to do it.
Unfortunately, this is the fundamental truth upon which the business model is built.

There was a time when I thought a regional career might be reasonable (at the right company) but no more. The game is rigged in the house's favor.

Yes, let's not play coy, we all know this is true (that Rickair is right).

I do considering it was around 7 years

Just finishing day 3 of Indoc. 3 more days of Indoc to go, then we start systems.

Great classmates. 25 in total. 1 guy going to the Ejet, the other 24 (including myself) going to the CRJ. We have a mixture of experience...a few corporate guys, a lot of flight instructors, and 6 guys from other regionals (Envoy and the ERJ-145 side of ExpressJet.)

We ran into some August 25 class guys and they've just started sims. They only got 1.5 days off between FTD and sims...so the long sim wait periods may be getting better.

Also, we are told that there are going to be 2 October classes, which are both already full. Lots of attrition, apparently, but lots of new hires, as well.

I just hope they hire in as many new folks as possible so none of us have to sit in MSP or ORD for very long

You are absolutely right. I could not believe that CVR recording. It certainly was riveting.

There are still some from the previous class who won't even start until the last week of October. Upgrades and transitions are only allowed to bid on select sim schedules so we don't end up sitting around doing nothing and getting paid our normal pay rates for doing so. A handful of new hires either were paired with an upgrade/transition or got one of the more unfavorable remaining time slots with an earlier start date.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far, I'm very impressed with the training staff on the "mainline" side of the operation so far. It seems movement is picking up so you should end up where you want to be before too long. As long as it isn't SEA!

I was told about it as a new hire but didn't get to listen to it until I had been at the company for over 2 years. I actually didn't think it was as bad as it was worked up to be, and it gave me a sense of "wow that could happen to anyone, including me." They were two guys who were unfortunately more engaged in their conversation than they were in flying that airplane, and it went way too far before they realized it.

I've had moments like that in my own flying career but luckily caught them in time to not end up the subject of a CRM class. The most eye opening part for me was just realizing that it could have been me.
