You are correct in that FOs transitioning from one jet to another are transition seat locked for 24 months. FOs that are new hires in the Brasilia are transition seat locked for 24 months. Brasilia captains are transition seat locked for 18 months. All pilots for any training (upgrade, transition, or downgrade) are seat locked for 12 months.

Just depends on how many FOs think they'll have an upgrade opportunity within 12 months of beginning class.

A year on reserve will have you thinking twice about upgrading back to reserve status.
Be careful what you bid for, you might get it....

7+ years and MSP upgrade looks like it is getting close. I will probably wait another year or so just to make sure I will never be forced to answer a call from CS. Plus after hearing what they are doing to MSP Captains with scheduling, I may wait even longer.

You mean working to get PIC time to get the heck out of there? Terrible.

And you're really annoying. Getting out of this regional hell is a goal of many pilots on here. Doing what is necessary (and being at SKW is a good airline to be at) to get out is what it's all about. I will gladly be 2 years senior at a major just because the other guy decided he didn't want to sit reserve and start collecting PIC time. To each their own but you don't have the right to b**ch about how crappy regionals are if you DECIDE you don't want to upgrade and get out ASAP.

Who are you to say who can complain about what? It's a screwed up system.
I'd hardly say that an upgrade is selling your soul. You've already committed your soul by signing up with a regional.

I sat reserve in base for 3+ years. It was a living hell that almost forced me to leave aviation. A job I have dreamed about since being a kid and worked hard to get. The idea of commuting to reserve, to a base that line holders are only getting 2 days off, with a CS staff that has demonstrated to me multiple times how much they care about our "contract" does not even sound remotely appealing.

Plus I don't think the PIC will be the end all that everyone says. We have lost almost as many FO's as Captain's over the past couple months here. Word is many of our FO's are moving on to legacy and majors.

Until we get some actual reserve rules (I know, the reserve re-write is right around the corner) I will not upgrade unless I can hold a line. I will make more money picking up trips as an FO vs. reserve as a Captain. I worked for years to come into an industry that had the music stop when age 65 went into effect and the economy crashed. Forgive me if I am cautious to make sure I am not put into a position where I will ever be forced to answer a 435 phone number.

Proves that you live in a la-la-land and have a kool-aid drip hooked up to your arm over there at SKW.

SKW has one of the best pay scales and and QOL out there. They have kept the bar high with no concessions, a good contract if not the best in the regional industry and an all around good company to work for. Is it the same company 5, 10 or 20 years ago? Perhaps not, but what company is? Ask United, Delta, American, etc about their companies over the last 2 decades. Fact is that nothing is the same…inflation, cost of living, etc have impacted every aspect of American life. So quit your whining!

Not the worst by far but certainly entrenched in the middle as far as total compensation and QOL go.
