So many simple things we could work together on, but we always have to be reminded who is in control. At least I have seen enough to realize a leadership change won't mean anything. Got my hopes up and dashed after the last Director of FO change. Thought he would be able to open some eyes and make changes, but as you said SGU is so out of touch they have no idea how a couple simple things would make so much change. How long have we been talking reserve rewrite? Virtual domiciles?
Keep telling me how expensive flight crews are while I sit around for 4 hours in one of our bases. Or when I have another overnight in one of our domiciles. I'll keep bidding 38 hour overnights while you scramble to find a crew or find some idiot that is new enough to answer their phone and help out. Because maybe if I help them out, when I need a favor they will return it... Yeah, been there and done that.

Real reason, pilot efficiency. UAL pulled the plug on the EMB, 28 people vs 50, to even allude to anything remotely resembling anything like a pilot shortage would cede the power to the pilots. Make no mistake, the industry is getting squiggly and can't figure out how to fix it. Some cities that will not support higher yield fares will be relegated to Greyhound codeshares. Follow the money.
Did 117 do away with the 135 flight time limitations and rest rules exemption?

Been lurking for a long time, but since I am new I won't call out anyone in particular. But it reminds me of a certain someone who came on here to defend the hidden open time and 50% reserve coverage in SFO. Never mind how seniority is all we have left. Let's just save some money by not following policy, or ignore what was previously agreed to.

Do whats best for your family and friends. Sorry to say if and when you leave, you will not be missed as an individual, pilot yes, person no. When you come to the realization that this is just a job and it is what it is, life becomes a bit easier. Phone just rang, let it go to VM, SS looking for a bail out from me, decided day drinking sounded like more fun than pushing one of their a$$ scented sewer tubes around the sky. PayBack.....

Just wanted to add a positive note to a thread that's slowly going bitter.. Skywest is a good regional to work for. People have been complaining about crew scheduling, but not many FOs are on reserve these days (summer schedule). The guys complaining are probably recalling experiences of times past. For example, guys hired prior to the recession may have been stuck on reserve for years due to no hiring. New hires today will have a totally different experience.

The positive note in this thread is, majors are hiring and this fall will be the watershed beginning of a new era for pilots.

Class is good! Almost done systems (dear lord).
8 of us have to wait for a month before going to atl. Surprisingly, those slots went to the more senior ppl in the class. The rest start within 5 days.
Nope, haven't gone to loftes. Squatters downtown is a good time tho!

I kind of chuckle every time I hear/see someone say that [their airline] has the worst crew scheduling.

Just like everyone claims their city has the most random weather patterns.
Oh man, don't like the weather in [insert city], wait 30 minutes it'll change! It's summer one day winter the other.
I've seen people say that from Edmonton, to Ft lauderdale up to Portland maine even over in san francisco. everyone claims that about their city just like everyone claims their airline has the worst scheduling EVARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

It's probably the same at all regionals nowadays. Some have better contracts than others. Especially when it comes to reserve. That will make it vary on what they can and can't do with you. However, when they can do something with you, it's probably all the same...the suck.
