My advice, being the movement there is at Brasilia, take it. Getting line will be a lot quicker. Unless you live at a domicile or dont mind sitting at crash pad, your life will be hell as a reserve commuter. I see stuff on the skedplus that is being offered for time and a half, while I sit as a reserve freaking pilot for the "last minute emergencies". It feels exactly like being the last choice of a fat girl. Horrible feeling.

*Sorry had to vent*.

The End. .

Many of us on the bro hired in 08 got stuck on the bro for 3 years. I was lucky to hold a line or a composite. Still with pay being equal during first year, I learned more, flew more (6-8 leg days) and what counted I had a huge head start for those that refused the bro when THEY were given the choice. Then the music stopped...

Just like everyone said, seniority is the key, take the first class, once the first year seat lock goes away try to come over to the jet and leap frog all those that wait for a crj class.

You must be based in IAH. Either that or you're really senior in SLC. I was recently awarded a 3 day which paid a touch over 12 hours and wasn't commutable on either end. Like the kind where you show up at 5 something and don't finish until midnight on the last day. Maybe it's true that the schedulers can't do any better with the schedules they're given from United and Delta (and Alaska and USAir, and whoever else in the future...) but there are definitely some crappy pairings out there.

If they could bump the minimum daily guarantee up to 5 hours I think I'd be happier.

Yep, that was me last summer. Everybody was picking up stuff that was paying 2x, while I sat TDY in hotel rooms. It was not fun!

I know living examples that fly out of MSP and their 3 day credits are absolutely deplorable. ORD is much better.

And I know examples of some in MSP and their 3 day credits are great. Not a ****ing match ..... just pointing out to the new guys reading this that there are many points of view concerning pairings, schedules, etc.

I agree that everyone's definition of a good pairing's different but I think we all can agree that an average credit of less than 5 hours per day is ridiculous.

I'm on the Jr side of the lineholding RJ Captains and most of my 3 day trips pay between 16-18 hours and 4 day trips pay over 22. Two of my 4 day trips next month are over 24 hours and commutable. I think that’s pretty damn good. I thank those in front of me for either not bidding for my type of trips or not fully understanding PBS.

Unless you have QOL issues which really require that you be on the jet, take the first class.
I have a house and a girlfriend in Chicago but they offered me the Bro. I decided to take it since I got a much earlier start date. I'm hoping I made the right decision in the long run.

I didn't really know you even had the option to reject it and wait for the CRJ. I figured doing that would **** the wrong people off.

They tend to stick CFI's on the Bro, and people with turbine time on the jet. So you might not have had a choice. But it probably wouldn't hurt to explain the situation and ask nicely.
