Bids open on the 10th at 9am and close on the 17th at 9am (Utah time) each month. Usually the lines come out sometime on the 19th.

Someone could write a novel about how PBS works but basically you bid on the trips you want and then PBS assigns trips in seniority order. More senior pilots will get more of what they want. Junior pilots usually work on weekends and holidays and get the lower credit trips.

Makes perfect sense. Thank you. If you send cookies to crew scheduling , do you get better trips?

Also keep in mind they're closing runways in SFO very soon and all the carriers have been asked to reduce flights. Combine that with the usual SFO mess and it could become a very difficult commute in the very near future.

Can you block out mil leave when you bid?

I won't be online with OO till the runway construction is finished, so hopefully will dodge that bullet...

That's true but SFO-ORD might actually be one of the better routes to be commuting during that time since it's a longer mainline hub to hub flight on all mainline planes. Even when SFO had bad flow I rarely ever got delayed more than 30 minutes if I took united on my commutes. If I tried commuting on a short route in and out of SFO it would have been hit with worse delays.

Where in my post did I say anything about not holding a line? The last time I was on reserve was a year and a half ago. All that I said is that 2 years seniority is actually pretty junior at a company with 7.5 year upgrades.

I bid 70% in one of our most junior bases so I'm not sure I believe that you're holding 15 days off with 85 credit as a 2 year FO. This month I was awarded 99 with 10 days off.
I just passed the 2 year mark, bid 75% in base and for May I got 88 hours with 15 days off and commutable trips. It all depends on your base.

Truth... United takes all the 'good' times from SkyWest and subs them into the 'bad' EDCTs. All mainline carriers do that to their regionals.
