Skywest

I’m not saying SkyWest is perfect and yes you’ll find a few horror stories but people are always willing to talk about the bad, rarely the good. As a whole there isn’t a better subcontractor to work for in this industry. I challenge you to name one.

I didn't say you attacked SkyWest, I said you attacked me……. sure this isn't a full on assault like most would attempt but it's a directed jab. There needs to me more understanding within this industry instead of attacking others for their beliefs. Before you decide to needle, jab, attack or whatever you want to call it try to put yourself in their shoes and try to understand it from their point of view.

You're slightly sensitive so I think you're taking this WAY too personally. I don't know you so I can't attack you personally. You're taking it the wrong way.
The second you think your job is stable and you have nothing to worry about, you think your leaders can do no wrong, and think you're "simply the best" (I say that because you challenge me to name a better regional airline implying Skywest is the best) is the same second that everything goes to hell in handbag. I'm done lecturing....stepping off my high horse. You are drowning in Kool Aid and there's no saving you.

I'm sorry but you won't get any sympathy from me nor will I agree with you. Just not going to happen. SkyWest has great managers, it's obvious it's a very well run company. It doesn't take two financial degrees to realize that.

A couple questions about the DEN base:
1. Is there a mix of 200,700, and 900 flying or is it one more than the other?
2. How commutable have the trips been?
3. Do the trips take you throughout the system or are you flowing through a few bases during a trip?

I could but then I'd be attacked by someone for playing the "my regional is better than your regional" game. I will say that SkyWest isn't at the top of my list. Well run airline but I have buddies that were hired in 2007 that still haven't upgraded. It's too big for new hires to expect to move over to the left seat any time soon. Also, lots of 50 seaters (yes, I know they're going to be replaced by bazillions of 76 seaters in the not to distant future). There are other regional airlines that are smaller with TONS of movement at the moment (with flow agreements), better equipment, good bases and comparative pay.

There's no guarantee a major will ever call. If you were to be stuck at a regional for the rest of your career which one would you want to be at?

Mainline partners play shell games with every regional. Even the mighty SkyWest. Yes, even SKW has to negotiate new terms for contracts and if you don't think downward pressure is felt by mainline partners at SKW you're in denial. This is exactly my point. The second you think your airline's sh&# doesn't stink you get hosed. Your company is not under any less of a threat than any other regional just because they own the planes. That's actually more of a liability. The way your management handles these pressures is key and obviously they've done a good job up to this point. Owning your own planes is a tiny fraction of the whole piece of the puzzle so lets not get too much tunnel vision.
