Right now, just the CRJ, where it is possible to fly all three variants. The 175 goes online in June.

Do you actually fly any of the 3 CRJs at any given time? Like say you fly the CR2 for one trip and then the next trip you could be on the CR7. Or you could just be assigned any one of the 3 once hired?

We are cross-trained. Trips are either 200 specific, or 700 specific, or 700/900 mixed. You can fly any of the three in a given month, but unless you're on reserve, you should not by policy be forced to fly multiple variants in a single day and trips don't mix 200 & 700/900.

LAX is pretty senior even on the Brasilia. Way more than 4 months to hold a line. I don't think a reserve lines really compares to a guaranteed line, and there is no way someone at 4 months is anywhere near a composite line on the jet.

I'm not sure about that. I held a line very fast on the Brasilia and was flying 90 hours a month on first year pay as a line holder while CRJ guys I knew who were around my seniority were on reserve being worked 74 hours a month just short of guarantee with less days off than I had. When I finally transitioned I had a line right away on the CRJ. I also lived in Chicago and commuted to the Brasilia and I still feel like it was a pretty good deal QOL wise.

How is the IAH base looking for reserves?(As far as reserves being used and time on reserve as of now) I'm tentatively scheduled for the 4/28 class and would commute from PHX, so that is a close choice and relatively easy commute.

PHX-IAH commute sucks. Flights are always pretty full.
Lots of nonrevs period, lots of mainline UA pilots too. So at least all the UA flights (737, single jump) are pretty hard to get on.
The US/AA flights aren't as hard to grab the jumpseat, but the 1st 3 flights of the day are UA, the 4th is US.
During daylight savings, earliest you can get there is 9:30. During regular time, earliest is 10:30. So all early morning shows require commute in the night before.
IAH is possible right out of class, but not a guarantee. Definitely MSP (even crappier commute), but I'd estimate within a month IAH is possible.
More than likely, you'd get IAH by the time you're done with IOE.
My recommend is to bid for TUS. Most junior guy in TUS has 4 months online, so within 2-3 months out of training it's attainable. Most of the TUS guys have bids in for other bases (mainly PHX), so there's definitely movement.
Hope it helps.

Can't shed light on IAH RSV usage/time to line, but...

I'd bid TUS, then DEN, then IAH to be honest.
Or take the bro and you can commute to any bro base fairly easily

You may want to think about DEN too, I'm not sure about the commute but less time on reserve in DEN
