I'm here to tell you guys: study alone, fail alone. I've also got more time inverted that most of you do right-side up.
You can study alone and succeed. It's called discipline. It does help to have someone to partner with to work cockpit procedures. I did most of my bookwork by myself and prepped the procedural stuff with my sim partner. You don't need a group.
And what does it matter how much time you have inverted? If you're all that then why bother slumming it with us lowly regional guys?

Went through training this year and had my own room. I was charged $26 a night for the CandleWood.
Made it through training just fine. No distractions and slept great.

Those of you that have already been through training. I have a question. I was thinking about driving to Salt Lake vs flying. I like the idea of having transportation. My family on the other hand thinks I'm stupid for wanting to drive. Will I have any benefit of bringing my car or will I be perfectly fine w/o it? Will there be anough down time to warrant having my car? Park City is not too far away.

Highly recommend having your car, if the drive to Salt Lake isn't an issue for you. Being able to go to the grocery store, go to class, go back to the training center after hours, and get away from the hotel without relying on the hotel shuttle is a huge plus.

As far as riding or skiing up in Park City, that was my plan initially too! Figured I'd study during the week, then do some riding on the weekends. Yeah right! WAY too much studying and home work for that. You might have one day during your entire time out there where that would work out, plus just imagine how badly that would suck if you happened to get hurt.
Where would you be driving from? Also, are you going to be on the Brasilia or CRJ? Because if it's the Brasilia, I'll tell you some more reasons (logistical) why you might not want to bring your car.
