The two-year seatlock wasn't really a concession, that's why I voted for it. The combination of seatlock and FO raise is a win-win. The Bro newhires can now stay on the Bro, enjoy their seniority and get paid about the same as if they went to the jet. Most will now tend to stay on the Bro until upgrade...I think the company would enjoy the savings anyway even without the seatlock because people will just stop transitioning. It will suck for just a few folks who want to transition in order to get a preferred domicile. But they can probably just request a jet class when they're hired. Without the continuous flow out of the Bro most new hires will go the jet anyway. IMO the seatlock is unneeded, the raise will have accomplished the same thing by itself.

concessions
Do you have any idea how much it costs to not have a seat lock??? Ask pinnacle how not having a seat lock hurt them. Training events aren't cheap and the seat lock does not effect upgrade.
Seat lock=concessions???? Okay....
Did we take an hourly pay hit? Deadhead hit? Per diem hit? Min day hit? No, we didn't. Perhaps you should look up the word concession...

We use to have an agreement that ended 2013 that was 1% increase every year for inflation. That was to be renegotiated and extended. It was not, so we gave up 1% increase for every year going forward and the bs that we got instead does not get even close to what 1% is for the pilot group. The company is saving tons of money by not extending the 1% cola and if we cost them less while they are making more then I would say that that is clearly concessions.

I was in a similar situation to yours when I got hired. I lived in Illinois at the time and my whole family is within an hour of ORD. They offered me a brasilia class date and I took it.
If you have the option take the RJ and sit reserve at home. Commuting isn't fun even if it is to a line. If you do have the ability to move to SFO or LA do it. I loved the brasilia flying and I love the west coast. You'll make more money, spend less time on reserve and get to experience a fun area of the country.
If you have questions about commuting from ORD to SFO, LAX and FAT message me. I did it for a year and a half.

If you want to go down that road then you could say we've been giving concessions ever since I was hired in 2006.
I looked at the merits of this 1 year deal in the light of what's been going on in the industry and voted yes.

The seat lock alone pays for everything in this agreement. SAPA estimated it to be a savings between $650,000 and $2 million a year.

This time it was time to stop. They cannot fill new hire classes, we are making profits every quarter and the legacy carriers like Delta are making record profits and hiring.........

I guess giving up the 1% a year pay increase isn't a concession. That should never have been negotiated away. That needs to be put back in at the beginning of the next round of SAPA discussions.

You've got to hand it to management though getting this past the majority of them. Push something that doesn't scream 'concessions' but at the same time gives away nothing, saves the company money and in essence, is a cut taking into account inflation. I'm sure there will be buyers remorse somewhere along the way when the reality hits. Many other industries this year are having to raise pay with a shortage of skilled labor.
