I start class on the 25 for the Bro. What would you guys recommend for a kitbag, suitcases and headset. My wife has a standard size kitbad that she doesn't need anymore because of going EFB that she can give me, and I have Bose QC3 headsets I can add the UflyMike to. In your experience would this work or do I need to buy new kitbag and headsets. My current headsets are old DC and get very uncomfortable after the first hour.

Thanks.

Ps. Is there any advice that you would give before going to training (what to bring beside what they say, what to do there etc.)

I don't fly for SKW or ever flown the BRO, but if you have access to a free kitbag I would suggest using it and saving the money. As far as the headset, I would recommend staying with the DC, hit the line for a while and then make a choice. I know SKW has ship kits on the RJ not sure on the BRO so you might not even need a kitbag. Spend as much time with your family and friends and you will be busy when you hit the road. As far as a suitcase, kind of hard to go wrong with Luggage Works, they are costly but will last a long time. I know many guys who have LW bags that are very old and still do the trick. Mine is almost 4 years old and everything works like day one. Have fun, if you have some memory items and limitations handy become familiar with them but most importantly spend time with the family.

Kitbag: Standard size is too big. Go to Staples and get a small-ish soft-sided bag. It needs to hold one large Jepp, one small Jepp, the SOP/FOM binder (slightly larger than a large Jepp), headsets and whatever else you need. You want something like this, but much cheaper: Samsonite Silhouette Sphere UltraValet Garment Bag : Silhouette SPHERE

Headsets: I'd suggest the U-Fly for your Bose. Clamps will suck and be distracting during IOE (trust me).

Suitcase: Luggage works. Not all Bro's have bins large enough for a normal rollaboard. On the days when you get one of those airplanes, your rollaboard will ride in the pit...getting loaded/unloaded 6-8 times/day. A costco special might last a month. LW is not cheap though.

My costco bag has lasted 2 years on the bro and is going strong right now. On small bin planes it fits under the back seat if I manage to steal that space from the captain fast enough.

Here is what I use:
Aurora Cooler - Coolers/ Lunch Pails - Browse Products

Will fit into the closet but not sideways.

If I stash my kit bag (soft-sided with my jepps an headset out, it just fits) on the floor next to the jepp case I can put my lunch on top of the jepp case and that's a lot more convenient.

Does anybody use the Luggage Works Aurora series rolling bags. It seems the biggest difference between them and the Elite bags are the Aurora having a telescoping handle and the elite have a one piece handle. Is it worth the extra money to get the 1pc handle.

Also what size is better, I am leaning towards the 22".

Thanks

Ps Good advice Rick

The one piece handle seems better in my experience. I have a telescoping handle on my bag and I almost guarantee that will be the first thing to break. The bag is sturdy otherwise but the handle feels like it could break any day.

How long have you had your bag. Does it seem like it will last long enough until you have money to get a nicer one.

I've had the CostCo Kirland bag for two years. It was $99 with a warranty so it doesn't really break your bank too badly. It's pretty durable but the handle is a bit flimsy. If I pack it super full it won't fit in the Brasilia overhead bin but as long as I leave a little room on the top it fits just fine.
