We did hear that they slowed hiring due to less than expected attrition. Upgrade time is libel to be very long. If you're looking for a quick upgrade take the Brasilia (3-4 years?). If you're looking for a job that will land you in the right seat for 6-7 years then go to the jet (you'll make about 15K more a year btw except year 1 where you will make 12K). That is the bottom line right now. Could change tomorrow but I doubt it. All the majors have to do is cut RJ flying and increase their wide-body and we're stucked. Didn't American, Delta, United, etc. put in orders for more wide-bodies? hmmmmmm....

I'm attending the Oct 24 new hire class in the RJ, and all my flying has been military. Any suggestions on a headset?

I had my interview back in July, and it was pretty laid back--some said to dress casual, but I disagree. We were all in suits, and they appreciated it. I wish I still had the link I found in another post--it was pretty spot on. First hour or so was just "getting to know each other". After that, we got broken separately for different parts. Some did the sim, but I didn't have to--I guess because I'm 43 with 21 years of mil flying. HR interview was very laid back. They offered for me to take my jacket off, etc. and then tried to get to know me better. Asked me if I thought it would be hard to be an FO for someone much younger and with less experience than me. I chuckled and said, "Heck no!" They'll probably ask you one question about a time when you had...(fill in the blank: emergency, CRM problem, etc.)...and how you handled it. You will also have your "real interview" with a Check Pilot. They will likely ask you to draw/diagram any aircraft system on the board and tell them about it (I chose a basic turbine engine), and then the usual FAR (CFR) questions. That's really about it. Brush up on where you think you're weak, relax, and be yourself (unless you're a tool...jk). Very laid back. Good luck!
