Things not looking too bright for Inc, especially with hiring being slowed down...

Raymond James downgraded regional carrier SkyWest Inc. (SKYW, $12.94, -$0.88, -6.37%) to outperform from strong buy, saying in a note to clients that its previous rating "was supported by the expectation that SkyWest was best positioned to secure the majority of the aircraft in four potential new pieces of contractual flying for regional airlines with legacy carriers totaling 370 larger regional jets." But, says Raymond James, SkyWest has missed two of the four significant pieces of business as Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL, $13.91, +$0.13, +0.94%) has awarded 40 regional jets to Pinnacle Airlines and American Airlines has awarded 53 regional jets to Republic Airways so the potential upside is lower.

Pinnacle's getting airplanes because they're really cheap with the new TA.
Republic's getting airplanes because they're almost as cheap.
I'd rather keep the compensation I have (could be higher) and loose out on some flying compared to taking concessions and only get 1/4of the flying you mentioned in this article.

Keep trying. In my own experience it doesn't seem like Skywest looks down upon CFIs like other regionals do. My new hire class had 12 CFIs all with no turbine time and all 12 of us passed everything first try. A lot of the captains I fly with say they were CFIs before being hired by Skywest.
They care a lot more about who you are and how you conduct yourself in the interview and how well you prepare for the interview.

I'll be hoping to get on with Skywest later this year. My word from the inside says a recent audit says they are 300 pilots fat. I hope all you guys keep your jobs before I get one, but I still want one eventually.

That's good to hear, it really is. It gives me hope. I have a couple internal recs, but every time I was ready to apply the mins went up. Im a little slow on IFR right now, because I'm not flying planes approved for known ice and I live near the mountains. I also didn't teach IFR for all but 3 months this year.

I just wish things would move a 'little' faster so I could get my transfer and live in domicile..

I am sitting back waiting like a lot of people. I was invited to interview before Xmas and then told that March is the expected month now to interview. I presume that Skywest is just watching the east coast saga unfold. I live 10 mins from SFO, so that would be the base for me if i got to class. If someone requests the Brasillia would it be possible to be home every night and just fly up and down the coast. Any thoughts.

Locals are usually pretty senior because everyone wants to be home at night.
SFO shouldn't be too tough to get pretty soon out of training.

Expect standups being junior on the EMB in SFO.

2/4 is batting. .500. That's Hall of Fame numbers.

9E may be cheaper with this new TA but I don't consider swapping 140 CRJ200s for 40 CRJ900s as getting airplanes, that's a net loss of 100 frames. If SkyWest had landed any of these -900s we would have parked at least twice that number in -200. Just like we did with all those Comair birds we received. But if you want more larger RJs just wait; United’s coming to St. George soon with Delta’s playbook in hand.
BTW, concessions are coming otherwise we will lose (not loose) a lot of DAL flying in 2015.

If been reading your posts for a while and I've got to say you're kind of a tool.

NO concessions! Pinnacle will not be able to perform, Delta will need us more than we need them!!
