Yes, you can probably block more hours on the Bro first year...but not enough to make up for getting stuck there for 2-3 years.

I recently asked a friend, currently in a CRJ transition class, if he knows when classes will start up again. He said they have cancelled classes for the rest of the year, "subject to change at any time". I forgot to ask if that was just for transitions or all classes, so I'm not sure about that. I'm going to guess this means all jet classes because they often train upgrades, transitions and new-hires in the same class.
Take it for what it's worth. It's always hard to say what will happen month to month.

That's true but I don't think most people are given the choice. I wasn't. I live 5 minutes from ORD and have been commuting to FAT and SFO for the bro for a year now. I would have gladly taken the RJ in ORD or MSP.

I think if you're awarded the CRJ and ask for the Bro they're happy to let you do it. If you're awarded the Bro and ask for the CRJ they won't do it.

Probably depends on your previous flight experience, they like to send CFIs to the Bro.

Pretty interesting considering a friend of mine just attended the job fair in Vegas and they said hiring to resume in March. No one knows what is really going on except for the hiring department, so unless you hear it straight from them, the rest is heresay.

Agreed. I talked to a member of the interview team (flew with him) and he said hiring to resume in march. Which makes sense because we're currently over staffed in many bases. Especially with reduced flying this time of year.

I've been bugging anyone and everyone I know about if and when classes will resume, and the feedback I am getting is a tentative March class, but nothing written in stone.
Out of interest, are there any guys nearing 65 years of age at SkyWest? Seems like the kind of place you would consider hanging your hat, especially with the unique bases they have on the West coast.

If you're junior enough to get stuck on the EMB for 2-3 years you probably can't hold a line on the RJ. I'd rather hold a line on the Bro for 2-3 years which would pay me far more even at the lower rate than sitting reserve on the RJ. Not to mention the quality of life issues.
