Skywest
Heard it from ALPA my contact at ALPA national. If you think about it, why would the majors want to keep the most senior(expensive) guys on the payroll? It's about training events, they can't train all the new hires and retirement bid shufflers at the same time. The perfect storm has arrived, and there ain't no way they can fix it, no matter how bad they want to. Sims and facilities are expensive, way more expensive, cash and time wise.

Heard it said, "If they think I am gonna be dragging my roll-aboard through the MSP airport on my 67th bday, they are high and need to put the crack pipe down"
Couple newbie questions.....got my employee number the other day. Is that how many employees the company has hired since day one? If so, that's a lot!!
Also, how long is the wait to get your caas enrollment done so I can jumpseat? Thanks all. Looking forward to training

True. 67 is probably coming. At least one country allows it now. ALPA represents the interests of senior mainline pilots so they'll be all over it, and the majors will NEED all the warm bodies they can get for a while. A few years ago, DAL got so backed up on training that they hired contract pilots who had retired early from DAL to fly some widebodies. ALPA let them do it because the alternative would have been to CANX flights and massive lost revenue.
The FAA might try to stall on safety grounds, but since people clearly live longer, healthier lives now than they did even 20 years ago I don't think they have a statistical leg to stand on. Plus they could easily tweak the statistics by requiring more frequent and/or more invasive medical exams.
