PS - if anyone is interviewing on Nov. 13th let me know.
In addition there also is US Air flight bennifits. Plus depending on your domicile you may be able to obtain AA or AS bennies too! As for NR'ing on UA or DL its not as bad as some people here make it seem to be. Its a huge game just learn to play it.

FACT: If you have a family, and you want to travel together, it's getting to be very difficult to go anywhere. If you're single, and don't need multiple seats, it's much less difficult...

Thanks for the info. about non-reving with the family.

One more question, is there much flexibility with your schedule? Is it pretty easy to add and drop trips or is what you get from your bid what you fly for the month?

Thanks,
Bob

Really depends on your domicile... Bigger domiciles usually mean more flexibility.

Lately dropping trips (for me anyway) has been tough. I've been here a year and a half and there were only two months where I could just drop a trip. However I have been able to trade trips and post trips for pick-up. In most domiciles there are usually trips in open time if you're looking to earn some extra coin or trying to manipulate your schedule.

It also depends upon the month, we can have some pretty wild swings in block hours. You can't expect to do a lot of dropping during the summer or peak travel times (winter holidays and spring break), but there are usually things to try to swap for. Ironically, it can be hard to find pairings to add during the low months, like right now. Since pilots are usually complaining if they're not busy breathing, we get a lot of complaining that we either don't have enough hours or we can't get time off, the happy medium is a pretty narrow space.

That's the long answer. The short one is that just like everywhere else, the more senior you get, the better your schedule will be. It always sucks to be junior. And on reserve, there is NO flexibility.
