Last I heard was that the sister-airlines were short on FOs with complications of few applicants.
Adding flying there may be harder than it sounds.

I agree that every regional will hire as many as they can while they can. I'm just saying that SW is trying to get as many pilots as they can and will add as much flying as they can from those that can't staff it.
SW has the luxury of loading up schedules of the pilots here vs giving some of that flying to it's other companies. From what I understand, there is very little hiring at the other two airlines.
So I will say that yes I agree with you that there will be continual hiring in all regionals. And yes even with all that hiring, there will be some airlines that will not be able to staff their flying because of lack of pilots. And SW will continue to take all the flying that can't be staffed and force it on to their pilots that have little recourse to work more hours and be away from home more due to poor work rules in PBS and sick time.

And yet every vacation request is met with the standard "insufficient reserves"...

On the bright side (I'll try to end on an optimistic note) we won't be working more than 90 hours/month because of 117. And as much as we complain about some of the lines we're awarded a decent 3 day here may credit the same as an average 4 day at a competitor regional. At least we're not getting 11 or 12 off and 72 hour lines like other places.
The majority of our pairings are minimum guarantee or credit half the duty time. Lots of room for improvement!

I am starting to have this horrible, sinking feeling that you actually might not be a troll, and actually might just be as much of an idiot in real life as you appear to be.
Hope you enjoy your commute to reserve in MSP or ORD this winter. I heard Mesaba, Colgan, Pinnacle, and Gulfstream have fast upgrades, though. You definitely should go there.

Hey, new to the Skywest thread; any one know what a new hire could expect to see regarding movement within the company (reserve/upgrade)
Thanks

Upgrade - last bid the most junior upgrade was awarded to a Nov 2011 hire. Too hard to predict when your turn will arrive.
