Everyone knows United starts taking deliveries of all the additional Airbus next year to replace more regional feed. That's when the shrinkage will really start. And there are no turboprops in the way at SkyWest now to prevent the furloughs. You got to hire all the way till you furlough in order to keep flying.

This is very likely the high-water mark of SkyWest.

All the negitive pisters are just upset SkyWest is staying strong while there is a regional reshuffle going on. Facts are SKY are adding 2 more 175 sims and using 7 CRJ sims around the USA.. And hiring 100 a month for the foreseeable future.. Upgrades are dropping and for the second month in a row coveted SLC captain postions were awarded.. Movement and groth are just beginning... I would say the "high water" mark as someone said is not tel maybe 2017/18'ish...
Actually I wouldn't dismiss the fact that skywest will more than likely be parking RJs at some point. But their future, in my opinion, is very bright. Lots of 175s coming and almost every captain I flew with when I was there has quit. My guess is that Skywest will continue to find new contracts and grow. Or remain stagnant but certainly not shrink.

Because they have gotten so big, the fall will be dramatic. When the majors park the smaller planes for the larger aircraft, then the recession hits next year and flying is reduced again and more contracts lost, there will be no turboprops to protect the furloughs. Chip will cut what he needs to which might be as high as 400 pilots. That will help the staffing but I'm wagering 2016 isn't going to be a good year for regionals in general.
