Are we to have received any aircraft specific material to study at this point? The only things I have received are generic company policy tutorials which I've completed aside from the SMS course which I can't seen to get beyond the 4 minute video at the beginning. The button to move forward never becomes active. Strange..
Avoid the flashcards on quizlet though while you're studying, because in September the packet was updated getting rid of lots of emergency procedures and changes to SkyWest only limitations for the CRJ. I know this for a fact since I was slated for ground school in July and now I'm going
That video link is junk!!! I know exactly which one you're talking about. I would do what I did and sit down and keep replaying it while you do something else it took me a few tries.
Otherwise no aircraft specific stuff to know for class other than that packet. If you are out of the loop and feeling bored, I would recommend looking over "the Flight manual for turbine pilots" FAR part 121 regs, reading up on 3535, alternates, IFR environment etc.
Have any other questions feel free to post here or PM me

thanks all for indulging my questions re:skywest bases....
I'm curious, how is PDX as an FO base? can a new hire get it with in a short period of time?
Also, is it true if you're working on the UAL side of the business, you only get UAL travel benefits, and such? I just ASSumed that you work for "Skywest" and that it doesn't matter who you are "operating for" in terms of perks and benes..
thanks again for the answers.

PDX was available for some in my class within a couple months. It's all about timing though. It's hard to tell when staffing is as dynamic as it is right now. I would venture a guess that by next spring everything will move quickly again and any base you want will be attained fast.

And sadly they most likely will be waiting their whole career for that call. In my limited experience, senior CAs seem the most content and way less likely to rock the boat when it comes to wanting more money. Why would the legacy carriers want to mess that up?
