Yes i do agree per diem is handy when the pay check rolls around. All i am saying is that if one has bills to pay every month i would not factor per diem into your budget, because like you said it fluctuates from month to month. Hopefully you will have a line soon.

That's completely true. I guess I misunderstood what you were implying. Yeah this month I flew a lot and ended up making almost double what I made last month just because of per diem. It's great when I get it but you're right that someone shouldn't factor it into a budget. For all I know in September I might be back to 9 hours of TAFB like I had in June.

It's kind of strange that I don't have a line yet on the Brasilia. I guess it was just bad luck. They didn't run any RJ transition classes for a while after I was hired so my seniority didn't move for a few months. Depending on what happens with the SFO transfers I 'might' have a line in October and hopefully November for sure unless something crazy happens.

The chief pilot had to assign me a 4 day trip to get me up to 100 hours so I didn't miss my 100 in 120 requirement. I came within a few days of missing it.
Where are you based? If you're in a junior Bro base, you will move up pretty quickly. The only catch could be FAT, with the SFO shift.

I'm in FAT. It's still the most junior base by quite a bit. Looking at the seniority list I don't think I would be holding a line in any base yet. I have a pretty decent reserve line for September but after 6 months of blocking 9 hours a month on reserve I'd really love to get a line so I can get some flying. I could use the per diem.

It looks like we currently have 23 on reserve with more new hires coming into FAT still and the lines being reduced. That's probably why I haven't been flying.

Very true, that backs up it being too hard to tell, flying moves around a lot in this company.

Will the MSP crew members be assigned the 700/900 flying or will that be SLC crews?

I've been here for almost a year on the jet and haven't held a full line yet, only a composite line (half reserve and half trips) for one month. I can't hold a line in any base in the system, so right now the time on reserve is about a year. However, that should hopefully change sometime soon with the legacy's picking up steam.

Also, on reserve my paychecks have been anywhere from $1600-$1900 a month take home.

Are they offering a lot of TDYs? That's a good way to make money on reserve too.

They actually do TDY a lot of people out of FAT. I get them once in a while. We have so many on reserve here though that it's just luck of the draw I think. LAX and SFO seem to be the most common.

From February-April of this year I was getting TDY'd twice a month, but now it's been few and far between for me.
