I chose to fly a Brasilia at Skywest for $22/hour before I ever even considered applying to RAH. Talk to some pilots at both companies and gauge who seems happier. An extra $10/hour doesn't mean anything with no cancellation pay in the winter and a company that hates their work force.

Who cares what plane you fly? Flying the Brasilia up and down the coast of California all winter is a lot more fun than de-icing in ORD and waiting for delays to NYC in the 175 anyway.

After spending yesterday in the most beat-up POS -200 you've ever seen, with no ACARS, a deferred single-point refueling system, an FO seat that basically refused to move, a left pack that wouldn't, a cockpit that hadn't been cleaned since it left the factory floor, some 35,000 hours on the airframe, an interior that looked like dudes had been living in it since the mid-80s, and a pair of engines that looked like they'd just come from the boneyard (with associated VIB readings)...

...sometimes I think a nice, new, MEL-free, clean, spacious, and (dare I say it) shiny 175 would be rather enjoyable.

Hell, I'd fly an RJ at SkyWest for 22 an hour before I'd EVER set foot on RAH property....

When I interviewed, the three other applicants were currently flying for RAH and would give anything to get out.

Fair enough. I must just be the proper amount of laid back for the job. The 200 and before that the Brasilia didn't really bother me. I prefer keeping my delta and American benefits over going to a newer plane.

The one place I draw the line is no APU in the 200. That's like the 7th circle of hell and if I never had to go through that again it would be too soon.

Yeah it's terrible. Had to do it once this summer and I never want to do it again. Hell, the 1-2 minutes the packs are off during engine starts is a struggle sometimes.
