Hey Skywest guys quick question. I'm thinking of jumping ship over to Skywest. Currently at RAH, I have to say it's not as bad as the forums make it sound. I'm in a junior base and get a pretty good schedule. But I commute out of iah, and we obviously have contract issues. Would you recommend making the jump? Looking for a better QOL and no more commute. Decided not to chase upgrades that may or may not be there when I get on so mesa's not really an option for me.

I think you should factor in how much longer to upgrade at RAH? It's just under 4 years here, like anywhere it may go up or it may go down. First year pay here should soon be around $30...so you're taking a paycutmto not commute. IAH is a great base for us, all 700 flying nowadays I believe but slow moving seniority wise, it's not super senior but not as junior as ORD or MSP. Might be better off trying to get PIC time and getting on with mainline. Of course you can get hired without TPIC but less likely.

Thanks for the quick reply. Right now upgrades are pretty high. Flew with a captain the other day who was fresh off ioe on the 170 and it took 7 years. The 145 has about a four year upgrade. That would require a move to shuttle and I'm not interested in any of their bases. I've only been with RAH for a year. So it wouldn't be too big of a paycut. Especially with the current contract. We're supposed to get a new contract soon. But we've been told that before. And we've got orders for more 175s but I'm not sure how we will staff them.
Opinion, I live in base and it's the biggest improvement to my QOL ove ever made

Alright thanks! QOL is my top priority. And Skywest has the most consistent reputation so I figured it would be my best choice. I've got an interview next week. I'm dual income no kids no mortgage so I'll survive another year of first year pay. Especially if it goes up to $30 plus way better soft pay than RAh. RAH has virtually zero. And I don't have an unreal expectation that I'll be at a major within a couple of years. There's guys way more qualified than me that will get on before I do. So if I'm going to be at a regional for a few years, I'd like to be living at home. Any other news Skywest right now?
