While I agree with the excessive amount of KoolAid offered here, this is one area where it was fact. We HAD higher standards, which in turn resulted in lower attrition from training. CE was shown the door, and our training failures have skyrocketed. So that doesn't mean we get better pilots, or that we are the only group that could land a plane with the gear stuck. It just means it used to be harder to get through the interview, and now the interview isn't as hard and they let training determine if someone will make it or not.
I still feel our training group is top notch and one of the better aspects of SW. But we have already started to screw with those guys and a bunch have moved on recently. One more sign of the times that they don't want you to stick around here.

Would you happen to know what bases have the ERJ along with the CRJ. I'm interested in IAH base but don't know how junior a base it is or if and when they have the ERJ.
Current E175 Domiciles are:
ORD (most junior)
SEA
DEN (just opened / opening)
SFO
PDX

ERJ is DEN (Starting Aug), ORD, PDX, SEA, SFO. ORD and SFO are the big ones (100+) and the rest are below 20 in each seat. All of those bases are also CRJ bases. No rumor on IAH for ERJ. So if you want IAH your best bet is CRJ. Base has been shrinking but has about 100 in each seat right now. Most Jr is 1/26/15 hire.

Unless you want to be based in ORD or maybe SFO take the CRJ.
And no Delta flight benefits for those on the ERJ. (hopefully this will change)

Sp35, thanks again. I guess I will try for Denver then. I'm not impartial to the CRJ, heard it is a great aircraft to fly. ERJ is the future though.
Any idea when IAH will get their 175's if at all. I presume PHX will also get 175's along with IAH at some stage.

Maybe I should just stick with the CRJ for now and re-evaluate a year or 2 down the line. Tricky choice I guess.
Anybody wish to give their aircraft of preference out of CRJ and ERJ taking all factors into consideration?

PHX is USair flying. Unless there is a new contract for AA/USair for 175s we won't be flying the 175 in PHX.
I think we're close to receiving all of the 175s for UA so at this point there won't be a 175 base in IAH.
Even though SkyWest has hundreds of 175s on order, they only have contracts to fly 47 of them at this point. -- that may very well change, but it hasn't yet.

Finished applying 5 minutes ago - unlike some applications it was not an onerous process. Let's see how long it is until the phone rings. Yes, I would have much liked a 1st year raise, so long as everone else got $6+ an hour increase too.
Anyhow, let me get this straight - which is assigned or bid first, aircraft or base? Everyone here knows I am the SFO whiner, but I am curious about which order it comes in. I searched for this too: EFB's? No, yes, maybe? If you have to tote a 40 lb flight bag is there a place you can securely keep it at base? I don't have a car, and don't want to get one.

I say take the 175...
I flew both and junior line holder on the CRJ is way worse than the 175. Youll be stuck doing a lot of low credit locals which will give you less days off and it'll be even worse as a commuter. If there's only a CRJ base in your hometown I'd take that over the 175. Nothing beats driving to work even if it's just reserve.
