Sounds like they understand business better and don't feel the need to limit substantially their options. For the win! Fact.
lol, this post is going to age so badly.

That's great that it works for you and you're happy. The thing is, my first month after training at Delta gave me a schedule that allowed a lifestyle like that, which SkyWest wasn't giving me after 15+ years there.

It's not something you can really describe to someone, it's something you just have to take a leap of faith on and experience. It's not for everyone, if you're happy where you're at, more power to you.

I know I just went on and on extolling the virtues of major airlines, but I hate to break this to you: $80k is still real money at a major. There are a myriad of better uses for it. If I were in my current situation but still saving to pay back $80k to some regional with dubious ethics, like just donating $80k to SkyWest, I'd be absolutely beside myself with anger. Yeah maybe you'd be ahead in the long run, but man, what a hit to recover from, especially with a young family. Be careful.

And for the record, the last rating I paid for was my ME in a Piper Seminole.

I don't mind flying it. I mind climbing in and out of it, and sitting in it.

amen to that. The guppy is slow and quirky, but at least it’s uncomfortable!

Sitting in it is fine for me, but I'll admit that getting in and out is a practiced skill.

Have you ever heard of a little thing called the Lost Decade? "No, what's that?" you say. It was a time during the not too recent past where you could not just pick what major you were going to when you had 2000 hours and a pulse. Between the 2008 recession and retirement age change from 60 to 65, it literally set people's careers back 10 years.

It was not fun.

Ya. A lot of us lived the lost decade. And a lot of us have been at not a regional or sketchy 135/91 or a while.

Lost decade was a thing. However if you are still at a regional post lost decade that's 100% on you and has been for years at this point.
