You guys let “work” consume your life!!! Ya. Im a OO lifer. But its a blip of my life.. we mountain bike, dual sport ride. Live in our sprinter van 2 months out of the year and travel… But you fly a 737 for DL and can spend your days here playing Delta CA on the internet… fun…(maybe even you payed for your training at XJT). So in the End. If you don’t like SkyWest or what they are doing right now, go elsewhere and move on with your life..If SkyWest works for you and your family. Great. Enjoy the ride..

What percentage of SKW pilots get to experience that kind of schedule to let them do that? Top 5-10% out of 5K maybe? Here's to hoping they fix vaca so everyone can get a week off in a year.

Roger that, I knew it didn't look right.
Sounds fun and I'm happy for you, I'm guessing DL or UA pilots might do the same in DEN and SLC? AA in PHX?

My schedule at my major (not DL or UA) is waaaaaaaay better than it ever was at SkyWest. I haven't flown a 4 day trip since I've been here, and only a couple 3 days in the beginning because I didn't know I didn't have to. And that's to say nothing of earnings potential, 401k and and health insurance. I mean, I understand if you're senior at OO and don't want to upend everything. That's fair. I get it. Maybe my life at SkyWest was rough because I wasn't senior enough at the bases I chose to live at. But really I couldn't avoid doing 4-day trips. Now I only have to do them if I want to and I'm happy to leave them for the commuters. Plenty of time for left over for family and fun stuff.
have to say the 12% 401k now is a huge diff.. funny comparing 401k’s with my buddys. Some at the Majors some at LLC’s and i have more saved than them.. but most of them had to start there retirement over when they went to a major.

We're better than 12% though. It's hard to explain how much better a major is. You just kind of have to see it for yourself. But I will say this, if the pay had improved before I'd made the switch, it would have been a definite thought process to make the decision, so I do understand where you're coming from. I mean, I probably would have made the same decision that I did, but it would have been more to think about.
And the 737 is cool. It's an airplane that you fly, vs. a computer system that you manage with control inputs. And it flies well. Bush plane with jet engines. It'll do SNA better than the E-jet.

17-18% DC, no match required, vested immediately.
Yes it is better overall by a very large margin (I was pretty senior when I left). Even if you have to fly a 737 (don't if you don't have to).
Would take too long to explain. I don't fault anyone for staying, I almost did. But that doesn't change the facts.

THose of you new FOs that signed the contract should be ashamed. You needed an easy way to get ahead of your peers who were probably more talented, and now you have taken away any leverage the SkyWest pilot group has in the future when it comes to negotiations. Upper managment made it clear they are no longer worried about attrition since these FOs are now locked into a 5 year contract. What a disgrace.
