Also could be the massive gap in employment because I was part of the whole Envoy debaccle, but who knows. Now I don't have to worry about the contract though, lol.
Perfect interview? Maybe that's why you didn't get the job. I've never had a perfect flight, let alone a perfect interaction with someone who was looking for my faults. Good luck on your future, a little humility will get you far in life.

I was employed at OO. I enjoyed (mostly) everyone I worked. There’s some good people in the training department and they’ve gathered a phenomenal group LCA’s who won’t be leaving anytime soon. The flying is great on the ERJ side and with a little seniority the schedules are flexible. Wasn’t a bad place to build time and move on before they introduced their new training contract.

That contract is designed to handicap your career prospects. They basically own you unless you causally have $80,000 in cold hard cash on the side you’re willing to toss in the flames. Most low time pilots are sitting on over $80,000 worth of student debt. I wouldn’t recommend anyone aspiring not to be a regional lifer touch this regional airline with a 10 foot pole. At the moment this is definitely a “no fly” list airline.

Anything OO management pushes through is to appease a few thousand pilots in SLC while everyone else gets the shaft. You also have zero representation other than A. Arnold who’s a lapdog for OO management and a few fake reps using the position to build up their Legacy Airline applications. It’s actually kind of hilarious to think about — they literally compensate Aric a few hundred thousand yearly to twiddle his fingers at home all month while sometimes dropping a “weekly” conference call defending every decision from St George while pretending to be a pilot advocate. With no pilot representation I wouldn’t expect that contract to be withdrawn anytime soon.

The job opportunities at the regionals are currently sparse, but there’s plenty of openings at 135 operations. Ultimately if your goal is to work for a Legacy Airline you need to build turbine time. Where you build that time doesn’t matter.

So you are an ex-SkyWester who has moved on, obviously jaded, and yet you still hang around and post here? Million dollar question is, what is keeping you with just moving on with your life? I mean, you now get to pay those union dues you always wanted, and you get to haul even more window lickers to their desired destination. Win for you, win for SkyWest. Move on with your life...

Jeez buddy, do you know how to generate any other type of response that isn’t a massive amount of gaslighting. That’s literally all you do on this website, give it a rest.

The contract they’re having new hires sign is predatory. Not everyone has a mentor for needed advice while building time to reach their destination carrier. I can promise you most who sign this agreement will regret it. Plenty of ways to build turbine time that doesn’t remove you from the opportunity of being hired at the majors for several years.

How about you generate a normal response for once. Explain to me how this isn’t a terrible contract for new hires?

Well for starters its not my call or concern what newhires think of anything. Not my place to say. Which goes back to why are you still worried about SkyWest?

Gave you an honest answer. Guess dont ask questions if you dont want an honest response. Which leads me back yet again why SkyWest is still something that is stuck to you?

SKW was likely his first airline and very much a memorable part of his life he will not forget. Potential newhires would be wise to conside advice from former Skywester's who have sucessfully advanced their career.

Anyone who takes advice from anyone on this platform is not making a wise choice. This place is a breeding ground for the bitter who using it as a sounding board. And you of all people should know that a lot of former SkyWesters who are "vocal" here didn't sucessfully advance their careers, which is why they are the way they are.

The vast majority who leave the regionals advance their career, sure some don't work out for various reasons but they tried and will likely try again until they land where they want to be. Not everyone wants to fly a RJ to SBN every weekend or work as subcontractors until they hit 65, how hard is that to understand? too each his own.
