How's hiring looking?

Happy to get the CJO!
You can sit and wait out looking for a company without a contract; I'll gladly sign and start getting that 121 time while getting paid decently. Who's to say ot won't take 5-7 years to get to the majors now? Nothing is a given, so I'll take what comes to me with the information at hand and not play the "what if" game.

Exactly. People fail out of training, that's just the reality in any 121 pipeline. To fail and then get hit with an 80K bill, due in 90 days, is about the biggest kick in the nuts you could imagine. Instead of making it punitive, the contract could have been based around longevity bonuses - that's something a lot more people would be happy to sign...

You don’t pay if you fail.. but if you’re worried about failing maybe don’t go to SkyWest….

Personally I think it’s higher and they don’t disclose it. I was hired in fall of 21 with 84 in the class. 56 finished. The group chat had a ton of people leave around maneuvers validation time

they just can't handle it, it's not an easy checkride, lots of chair flying with your sim partner. Lots of studying, stressful, it is not a walk to the park deal. Many new hires believe it's a vacation paid, and feel in title because they have a CFI and deserve a free hotel, and they believe not studying it's ok. Need to study at least 3 hours after class, i see them not doing that, and surprisingly they quit or fail.
my class no one washout, because we study like there were no tomorrow. We all passed, it was hard but rewarding at the end.

From an oldtimer who used to train newhires in DC9. Show up for training any training with an excelant instrument scan. They are not there to teach you how to fly just the new aircraft. Everything will come easier with a solid scan..

**UPDATE**
**UPDATE**
Interviewed on the 19th, CJO on the 27th. Some get CJO's within 3 days, others (mine) take a little longer depending on the recruiter. Still waiting for a class date.
Were you in the cadet program by any chance. I just had my interviwew today and was told I was extremely prepared, nailed all the technical questions and was asked about preferences, so now I am curious. He DID say he was not the decider, but that a more in-depth review of my application would now take place since I passed the interview.
