Have you heard back yet?

How's hiring looking? The only answer to that is: it's dire.

There are nearly 200 First Officers still in training right now. I don't know when they move out of that category to show their domicile. I'd guess after the sim ride, but it might not be until IOE is done. Figure training is a two to three month process so there has been plenty of hiring going on. The ratio is around 60/40 for ERJ/CRJ.

Someone else here probably knows the class schedule and projected size for the rest of the year.

I have been at Skywest for about 20 months now. Been a while since I have posted on here. Things at SkyWest are pretty good in terms of projection for growth. With Mesa and CA closing their DEN bases, there has been an influx in block hrs on the UA side. I can tell you people that fly the Delta side out of Detriot, Minni, or ATL dont like their lifes as much. Low credit trips, long sits... not a lot of fun. Not too sure how the AA / AS side is. There has been roumours of OO trying to ramp up to 6k pilots at the end of 2025... we will see if that happens. We are strechted pretty thin in terms of FO and CA staffing in DEN and COS where I fly. Only 1-2 reserve staffing per day most days. Steady incease in block hrs sense the spring of 24 with no expectation of this falling off anytime soon. I have talked with several friends of mine that I used to inscruct with that applied at Skywest with great resumes and credintals and got the thanks but no thanks responce. Form what I have gathered, the days of interviewing with a heart beat and a smile and getting a CJO are gone. People got comforatable with the expecatation of getting a CJO at any regional because they think they deserved it. That is not the case anymore, I would get into any seat that will get you jet or turbine time asap. Take the time, dicpline and do interview prep, even for the regionals. Im not saying go pay for emerald coast or cage marhall, but take it very seriously. I saw a couple posts about 91k, mountain air, ameriflight ect. I would get that on my resume asap if I were in your shoes, and that will likely get you into a 121 seat quicker. I have spoke with friends that fly for Envoy out of DFW and the american side of regioanl flying is hurting bad right now. Envoy, PSA and Piedmont have slowed hiring significantly or stopped all together. Many of them are offering volentary time off becuase they are so slow. This is not a good sign for half of the regioanl supply out there! Keep your heads up, keep applying, dont be picky and dont feel like you are too good for a certain job. The regionals and the 135/91k jobs are typically just a pay your dues / stepping stone for your career. I wish you guys luck!

I signed the advancement agreement and got an immediate date for the phone interview. After reflecting on it for a few days, I passed on the interview - the agreement is just too draconian. If it was prorated, and a little less 'trust me bro' I might have had an easier time living with it...

Happy to get the CJO!

You can sit and wait out looking for a company without a contract; I'll gladly sign and start getting that 121 time while getting paid decently. Who's to say ot won't take 5-7 years to get to the majors now? Nothing is a given, so I'll take what comes to me with the information at hand and not play the "what if" game.
