If JAC flights aren't normally crewed out of SFO, they might be hit and miss for getting those guys qualed up and it might not be something they normally even think about?

Did OO ever try to send me somewhere that the crew or plane wasn't right for? Yup. Did DX catch it? Nope.
Pretty sure DX doesn't have the specific crew data on who is qualed on what. That is a function of crew support.

Wow you just described yourself. Now, that fryer still needs cleaned out, so chop chop!

Dispatch once gave me an airplane with United paint to do Delta legs with. That was a fun phone call.

Thanks. Looks pretty VFR with light winds to me. Must be a qual issue as others said. And I could see a warm body getting thrown on a flight without having all the details checked.

There was nothing remarkable about the article, nor about the event. The incident wouldn't have been noticeable at all, had the pilot not couched his announcement as he did.

Jackson Hole is a special qualification airport. The specific reason for the divert and the specific paperwork involved, isn't specified, nor is it important, as clearly it was handled, and the passenger were delivered to the destination, albeit with a delay.

The event doesn't merit more than a yawn.

Gosh, thank you for that insightful post. Maybe the fact that someone without the proper check was sent to, yes, a special qualification airport is of interest to some of us. How did that hole develop in the cheese block? And perhaps someone reading this who is new to the left seat will look on this and go " yeah, maybe I will choose better words".

Ball was for sure dropped on whoever assigned the trip to this crew, no doubt. However, there is a much bigger concern, and that is how the crew missed the 7 page briefing guide for JAC that lays out all the required training, along with a ton of other critical information. Crew obviously missed this, which is as bad as forgetting to put pants on before you leave the hotel, and equally as dumb.
