Overnights at home as commuter
#11
24 flights a day…. We have a few people that do it. They don’t seem to complain… QX is way to slow moving and they mostly higher through there pathways program that starts at them funding a loan for you to get ratings.. any QX pilot will tell you the fastest way to fly for Alaska is go to SkyWest…
Still, doing that commute 4x a month with potentially non-commutable ends sounds rough but my perspective is a bit different these days.
Wonder what the long term plan is for the poster in question?

Long term is fly for Alaska out of ANC. I'd also consider FEDEX or UPS as I think they both have bases there. I am not beholden to a particular airline/airframe - just the location. Wifey is going to have a job there and I'd like to fly.

I think it had to do with the hiring slowing over there. It made sense to me to look at Horizon as they have flow through to Delta and Alaska built in. I am not quite at their "experienced FO" mins but well above their entry level PPL Pilot Development Program. I have 1000 TT in the P8A. I have a lot of first pilot and second pilot but I am low on PIC so that's where I don't fit the experienced FO slot. I am working on flying out of the local club to boost the PIC hours (just shy of 100).
