One of many not signing
Several people I work with have applied, or have applied prior to the pilot agreement and recieved a CJO, but then were given the "agreement" letter. So far, everyone is reluctant to sign it and take their chances. We are all in agreement it is not worth signing seeing as how it appears to be a dry run for a more permantent, mandatory contract. I am sure there are those who are desperate (for obvious financial reasons) and will sign, but I am willing to take my chances. I applied on June 8th, received the email outlining the subject areas to be covered by the interview, and to look for a followup email with an interview date/time selection, but "priority will be given to those who have signed the agreement." I will update when I get that email.

I stand corrected. It was the upgrade classes that had big fail rates that I was thinking of. Still, utterly insane anyone would sign something that demands they pay 80k for not passing. You get a bad sim partner and a poor instructor - and yes there are many out there - and you are hosed.

I spent nearly 10 years at OO. For most of that time I felt the company treated us relatively well. But when covid hit, things went downhill quickly, starting with the forced upgrades. And now this.
Never in a million years would I sign a contract such as is being discussed here. I suspect, though, that in certain states, a number of its provisions would be unenforceable (such as the company demanding repayment after the company decided to fail you out of training). However, legal fees to win that judgement could cost you as much as the contract amount.
So disappointed to see the latest depths to which SGU is sinking.

Maybe the intent is to motivate people to put in the effort? Like the old "Up or Out" upgrade policy?
