The email I received reads... "We are already scheduling pilots for class who have signed the agreement and want to ensure you aren’t delayed in your training once you successfully complete the interview process. If training class dates are not important and you are not interested in the agreement, please let us know so we can reschedule you for a later interview date."

So every day I feel more pressure to sign. I have already passed on Republic. Nobody else is calling. I really dont want to perpetuate these contract but every day I that goes by is a day I could be at a 121 op building time, experience, seniority, paycheck, benefits. If this is the way it is going to be for a while, what choice is left to get to an airline.......this year. Without taking a career detour to a 135, who also are not hiring me, not many options are left for the immediate future. This is the reality for now, as frustrating as it is and I know I am not alone in this. Bit of a rant/mental dump, I know.

My interview is about a week out and I just got two emails; one describing the agreement and the other a docusign. I guess I'm just trying to do the worst case scenario math and figure out how long it could take to build 1600 hrs or move up to a major. At 5 yrs, is it worth taking the "early class date". How much earlier. By not signing am I shoved to the back and forgotten about? Probably. This is fun.

I have an interview scheduled, I received the email with the contract in it after the fact. I responded to the recruiting team stating that I wasn't interested in the contract. My Interview date remains unchanged.

I received a call today saying my July 15th Indoc class is not being conducted. Plus, since I did not sign the agreement they are unsure when my next start day will be because other that sign will be priority. I was told the agreement isn't mandatory but will more than likely be in the upcoming future. If you accepted a CJO they are only good for 6 months and if they don't get you in a class by then, you have to re-apply and go through the entire process again.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but to those considering this shortcut might really want to think twice. It might very well leave a stain on your career ala GoJet v1 (the alter ego) or a PFT/PFJ type move. 'Me first' is never a good look in an industry that is a brotherhood/sisterhood. The choice is yours of course, but this industry has long memories.

I always used to kind of laugh at people that would tell others not to go to the place that they were working or used to work. After all, employment satisfaction is subjective, and when I hired on at my current airline we were in the middle of contract negotiations and I was told I was crazy for being here, yet almost three years removed from that I'm absolutely loving it here and don't regret my decision at all. (Word to the wise if you are new to the career field, in every pilot group there is percentage of... shall we say "sky is falling" types. There are elements of truth to the things that they say, but they blow things way out of proportion. And they are overrepresented here on this forum. Try to take it with a grain of salt.) But, here I am on a widely read forum saying that you might not want to go to SkyWest... I probably wouldn't if I were in that position. This is kind of a new low for SkyWest, a bad faith negotiating tactic. The first upgrade that I was offered at SkyWest was at 7.5 years (which makes me laugh at the recent "forced" upgrades. For me I was "forced" to remain an FO! If only I had been forced to upgrade!), so, that 1600 PIC might be slow in coming... or it might not be--nobody has a crystal ball, which is my point. I think you'd want the flexibility to go somewhere besides UAL and DL. I'm really disappointed, and maybe even a little ashamed, that SkyWest has decided to go this route. If they are interested in retention, there are better ways to do it. But that is a concept that has always been lost on SkyWest Management.
For what it's worth, a good percentage of people come to my major airline straight from part 135, and as long as it was multi-engine turbine, they don't have a hard time in training at all. I'm not recommending that route per se, but understand it's still a viable option.
