Failed to get CJO
Hi, I would like to ask for the opinions here because I didn't see it coming.
Did the interview 2 days ago , part of the cadet program for a little bit more than a year.
Almost 1500 hours , XC 850 , JET time 500 (its also multi engine time and complex) part 135 company , Night and IR way more than the minimums.
CFI MEI CFII as well
Studied like crazy for the interview and it was absolutely awesome interview, I really gave him everything he wanted to hear and I showed him very strong knowledge.
HR questions as well.
I went to the interview preparation sessions few times and workshops as well.
the interviewer told me during the interview that I'm exactly what Skywest is looking for, an experienced and professional pilot .
Clean PRIA records.
After 2 days from the interview I got a message from the recruitment Department that they will not continue with me.
How and Why?
The interview was really really good, maybe better of some check rides I did and passed in the past.

You’ll go farther faster if your goal is a legacy with an Airbus rating from someone a legacy regards as a competitor than you will as an FO or even junior CA on one of their feeder regionals. And should there be another black swan event like a recession, your chances of being furloughed would be a whole lot less at NK or F9 than it would Be being a junior FO on reserve at Skywest.

I knew a F/O who went in for his upgrade and washed out. When I asked about his experience, he said he'd been an outstanding candidate, and had some everything right. He said he'd been told he was one of the best to ever come through. I asked how far he got, and he said he made it to the recommendation ride. I asked how his rec ride went, and he said it was flawless. I asked why he didn't progress beyond that, and he said the ride went well, and he passed with flying colors, but the check airman declined to recommend him. Red flag.
He couldn't have passed if he wasn't recommended; that's the whole object of the rec ride. I pressed further. Did the check airman give a reason for declining to recommend the applicant? Why, yes. The check airman said that the applicant "wasn't captain material." The bottom line was that when the applicant looked in the mirror to evaluate his performance, he used a dirty mirror.
I realize that the original poster had a perfect interview, but the end result doesn't match the description. Looking forward, a realistic review will be more useful than one that's seen through rose glasses. Keep that in mind.

Regional hiring dynamics are crazy now … skywest may be looking for the people it CAN keep not the ones it wants to keep
To the OP… you are never going to know the reason. All you can do is move on and work as hard as you can. I agree with the others, set your sights above the regionals. If that means shelling out for your own ATP, get on it.

It seems like every FO I fly with is leaving for another airline at this point, as soon as they hit 500 hours turbine. Southwest, Allegiant, Breeze, Frontier, Spirit... Perhaps they don't think you'd be here all that long.
